EA says no more exploiting licenses with crappy games

Every time I walk down a gaming isle and see a game based off of a really bad movie, I wonder why on earth it was even created. Then I remember that some gaming studios love to try and cash in on a license in the hopes that the movie will be a success. Who cares if the game is bad, so long as the movie is good. Unfortunately in the case of say, Catwoman, neither was exactly worth sitting the whole way through. Well EA has vowed that the days of making crappy games (from movie licenses, not crappy games in general, mind you) are behind them.

Here is one of the best quotes that I've seen from a CEO in some time. "I think what redeems our industry is quality, and I think we take a step back every time we take a license and exploit it with a crappy game. That's not what we're about." That was EA CEO John Riccitiello, and I'm glad that he admits to exploiting licenses with crappy games, because they have been guilty of it for too long.

So does this mean that we're actually going to see less games like Catwoman on the market? I certainly hope so. I feel bad for ever kid that opens a game like that on their birthday or Christmas and has to act excited, or is genuinely excited until they pop it in their console.
