Responding to the last sentence in your article I would most definitely agree that things have been dumbed down a bit-and they don't need to be. I remember when you could open a basic file manager and select a file on a black and white phone in 2002 then click "send via bluetooth, infrared, mms, e-mail, etc. Every single one of my friends now has an iPhone and both parties have to pay $0.99 to be able to bump a contact card from one device to another. I paid $19 for my GoshDarn CD 10 years ago-as long as I don't charge anyone, I have the right to rip it, transfer it, & e-mail/bluetooth it to any friend I so choose. I used to send music over bluetooth or e-mail to my friends phones; now no Android or iPhone can receive a file over bluetooth or save a file from an e-mail account into the file system. Nowadays people can view things, but not save them. Isn't that going backwards in time for UX's and OS's? Isn't that limiting the consumer, denying options/rights, taking away choice/freedom/progress?

I have an N900 and it's not as frustrating as you made it sound. It gives you a lotta freedom to basically do whatever you want to it (without voiding the warranty). I will be completely honest... It can view Adobe Flash web pages, send anything to any device, access any part of the file structure, do anything!, but it is no part of it is as smooth & bug free as even the oldest iPhone. Nokia will NEVER invest the manpower that iApple will invest into any OS, product, or Anything for that matter. There are 2 dozen Finnish (limited by their calm, slow culture) people working on 41 devices; there are hundreds of Americans (who have no culture allowing them to be aggressive, progressive, cutthroat, fast-paced) working on just a handful of items at any given time. What a contrast?!

Even though I can multi-task 8 applications and 9 web pages open while changing channels on the tv from my phone, they see that my device freezes up for a second when I go to answer a phone call. And even after knowing about the iPhone's limitations in comparison to a mobile computer like mine, not one person would ever sacrifice the consistancy in the user experience they've come to expect as the standard. They will ALL stay with iApple forever regardless of how advanced technology is. They are financially loyal to the interface alone.
