Probably not very much at all. While I disagree with their stand, I believe those of us who even really know what it means are in a tiny minority of users, and a certain % of us won’t care.

They are thinking that cellular networks are highly regulated and susceptible to issues caused by tampering with phones.
As long as the carrier provides things like wi-fi tethering that customers need then I don’t see any need to root.
A tiny minority of users care about the ability to root their phones. This won’t impact sales at all. Welcome to the real grown up world.

Everything about that is just wrong.. What the hell are Motorola thinking?

Now blogs and tweets everywhere are saying don’t buy the motorola.. Doubt that’s the end result they wished for.

Though noticing that HTC’s new updates are making rooting very hard now too. Such as Hero GSM official upgrade to 2.1 means no more rooting. Again, people are telling others not to bother upgrading, and everyone listens to their pet geek.
