I believe that history will prove that Time missed #1 big time this year. The number 1 gadget for this year is the App Store. Okay, it's not really a gadget but it and other App Stores in the future will revolutionize consumer gadgets. The iPhone, Droid, Netbooks, Laptops, etc., are in essence just application platforms. The apps are what makes the gadget useful and now we have an easy and (usually) affordable way to find and install the apps make our gadgets useful. The App Store (concept) is really big and I'm not sure why many tech journalists just don't get that yet?

Interesting, it's as if whoever wrote the Time blip about the Droid also wrote the ad copy. Not that it's a bad device... but... iPhone-killer? I don't think so.

They should've been a bit braver with that article, and given the reader an option to click an Agree/Disagree polling button -- would be better as an interactive piece -- as it is, we're left wondering what the writers cut was ;)
