@ gokekobear.. i can operate all buttons in my car most of the times without taking my eyes off the road.. you can’t do that with a giant ass touch screen. I think people at NHTSA are not dumb, they know what they are doing to stop this touch screen insanity.

There is something called as muscle memory. your fingers are touch sensitive and in less than a week’s time most people will know the where several buttons are without looking at them. To operate a ac/defroster/volume button you dont really have to take your eyes off the road you do have to if it is a giant touch screen like tesla.. In My opinion the touch screens have to be banned from all cars.. they are so much distraction and not worth a human life

Yes, you can’t have people hitting buttons while driving.

That’s why the GPS, Radio, AC, Heat, Defroster, and other interactive dashboard options should be disabled while people are driving.

Oh, not the radio, AC, heat, or defroster? You can hit some buttons on the dash while driving without problems, but other buttons are really distracting?

Yeah, somehow I question that… why is one button really easy and the other not? Because you really want that button? I thought we were working for safety, not desire/demand. Be honest, how much more distracting are many of these devices than a modern radio installation?

Or is your radio required to safely operate the motor vehicle?

the real reason is that the highly vaunted Govt Motors Volt’s range will drop to zero if these are installed.
