Well done Mr. Reisinger, you really are at the pinnacle of independent reporting, your patrons will be thankful. Now go get your paycheck in Cupertino.

The media, overwhelmingly, uses macs. Yes, finding a non-apple using person in the media will be a challenge. Huge percentage (i mean huge percentage) are apple users.

See what happens when Apple comes out with a new product, almost every tech and new sites goes on about it. I mean almost every one. even your big-name news. Even your big name news REVIEWS Apple products. Good luck finding a review for a non-apple products, or an article about a non-apple product.

Also, the amount of apple articles DWARF the amount of non-apple (tech) articles.

Also, the media has a habit of "blowing off" non-Apple stuff and then going on and on about an Apple feature.

Siri, is an example here. The media went on about how amazing siri is, about how it's a game changer, nothing is as good as it. But, few months passed, it was quietly said that siri was no better than any other voice actions/commands out there.

I was an Apple fanboi. For a while at least. I was like, Apple is the best, and nothing touches it! What happened? Well, long story short, I realized (after comparing stuff) that Apple was no better than a lot of stuff out there, and in reality, a lot of this other stuff was actually far better than Apple. To the point, I was questioning were the Apple users and media even testing these? (I found out later, that most of my mac toting friends NEVER touched a PC or any PC software, so they have absolutely no idea how good (or horrible) PC stuff. All they do is see a PC and run screaming out of the room about how horrible it is.)

My frustration, as well as countless others, the media is BIASED. Hugely biased to Apple. Not my view only. Some professor at a media-heavy school brought that up. "how can we (media) be unbiased if there is not a single PC in the room?" (he was talking about in a class of 200+ future media students, there wasn't one single PC. All had macs). And with some sites showing what their editors have? Well, it's almost 99% apple products. You are LUCKY to find one person owning something that is NOT an Apple product.

How can you be unbiased? yes, there will always be biased. But if 90+% of the media is rocking Apple products, there is HUGE BIAS there.

In my household, we have had own Countless of computers in the past 15+ years. (primarily because there are 5 of us)

We NEVER had a blue screen of death, NEVER got any virus/malware, NEVER had them crash, etc..... Serviceability? We have one PC that is still chugging along for about 10 years now. Never had to get anything repair/replaced. But OCCASIONAL we had to get something repaired, but that's typical.

There is a Mac in the household. It has crashed MULTIPLE times and has gotten the mac version of "blue screen of death" multiple times as well. Thankfully no viruses and such. But their top of the line machine has had MORE PROBLEMS than our POS computers that we had around the house.

I was about to plop down $3000+ for a MacBook Pro (before the mac started to have problems), but I couldn't justified spending that much. Primarily because the amount of problems my friends where having with there $1800. Harddrive failures, overheating problems, etc... I wasn't willing to pay that much for a computer that has that many problem. So, I went with a PC laptop, and never had a problem.

What I have noticed, is when I had a problem with one of my PC computers, my mac friends would go on about how my PC is crap, and I should get a far superior machine that is a Mac. But when their machines were getting fixed, multiple times, they claimed it was something different.

Resale value? Resale value ONLY matters if you want to have what's hot or cool.

So this article mentions both Apple AND Samsung, yet in the comment section it's all about bashing Apple. Talk about Apple hate. I used to think Apple users were ignorant rich spoilt brats, but after getting into the world of tech news I have come to realize that PC and Android users are so hateful. Still rocking an Android phone since I'm a big fan of Google, but have jumped ship to Mac. So far very happy and getting a total opposite impression from what I've seen PC users wrote about Mac.
Just realized that not everyone needs to throw out the specs sheets to boost up their self esteem or justify their choice of purchase. As long as it works great for you it's a good machine.

I have had the exact same experience with PC`s.

I own a 2009 17" MBP and used 2006 Mac Mini as a media hub never had a problem with either.
Never owned a Windows machine that was anything other than trouble.
Just upgraded to Win 7 at work and while it`s a serious improvement over anything MS has done before (Have had it for a week now with no blue screen:) the experience and ease of use comes no where near OS X.

"Mac continue to sell" Yes, they do, for a whole 8% market share. I'd say if Mac's were so awesome and affordable, they'd actually sell a whole bunch more. They get enough free advertising from the blog minions, so there must be some problem with people actually buying Macs.

(and I have a 2009 MBP, so I know it's true.)

And the Vizio PC's look hot, and I'm crossing the fingers they have a decent trackpad.

"
Crappy experience and low cost, but if you never use a Mac, you have no idea how great the experience is."

The PC users I know, have no idea how the Mac experience is. Most of the Mac users I know have no idea how the PC experience is. The people I know who use Both Windows/OS X, Macs/HP/Dells/etc...., have essentially said the experience is equal. Most, who use both, lean more toward Windows, than the OS X.

From someone who has bought $250 to $3000+ computers including both Macs and PCs, OS X and Windows, yes your $250 POS windows netbook is NO MATCH to a $2500 Mac. But if you around the same price/performance/quality, suddenly your Mac is not better at all. It's just another option, and (arguably) just like how Linux is an option.

If macs are so reliable, so dependable and so amazing, why does Resale suddenly matter....? Resale value ONLY matters if you want the newest/coolest devices out there. If you are actually KEEPING the device, well resale value DOESN'T matter.

What do I do? I buy the best computer I find. Reliability/durability is crucial, followed by performance and warranty/services. I need something that lasts and if something breaks, it is fixed quickly and I have the grunt to get stuff done. If you can find me a Mac that is government/military certified (meaning the reliability/durability passes strict standards) and has a 5 year warranty with accidental coverage and next day IN HOME/bussiness repairs, I'll be more than glad to pick one up. But the PC world? I can pick a lot of machines that have that durability, reliability, performance, warranty and services. And the Mac World? Good luck finding one that has one of those.

(when have you heard analysts and such, going on about how HP is updating their laptops?)

No one gives a shit about those articles. These sites have analytics that show what kind of articles the consumers or visitors want to read. If no one is clicking on articles of HP updating their laptop, they're not going to write about it.

"But you don't hear the media going on and on about how amazing that HP Envy is"

Look at the design of the HP Envy. Rings a bell? Well, no shit, it looks like the MacBook Pro.

I have a mac. In the corner. I got it a few years ago because I decided to try out the Apple wagon. ( I keep it now primary so I can troubleshoot my friends problems and such.)

I know how to use OS X blind folded. Nice OS? Yeah. Put Windows onto it? OS X is left in the dust. The only real reason you want to USE OS X is if you want to run Apple software. Apple software that you cannot get on any other platform. At first I was up in my neck in Apple software. Was using everything Apple was making software wise. But then I "woke" up. I found that there were a lot of better programs and such. Eventually, I was using no Apple software and asked my self, why do I need OS X, if I'm running software that works on Windows perfectly fine? And then, I'll be able to run all the software I have to "dual boot" my mac for. So, I put it into the corner to troubleshoot my friends computers and such (I'm their tech go to guy) and got a PC. Haven't been happier and never had a single problem.

Windows is super fluid and fast. Don't have a problem. Never crashed, no virus/malware and such. (Ironically), I have had MORE PROBLEMS with OS X than I have had with Windows. In my 15+ years of having windows machine, NEVER did I have the "blue screen of death". Not once on my PC. But my Mac? I have had their version of "blue screen of death" happened several times.

I have had numerous laptops and far more solid than my friends MacBook Pros.

I sometimes wonder where they get this "mac's are better". They are always going on about how much better their macs are.

First, my laptops never had as much problems as their MacBook Pros. secondly, Windows has been rock solid. Never a crash, never a virus, has never slowed down. Runs like new, and in many cases (far) faster than their Macs.

Many cases, I was going to drop $3000 for a MacBook Pro, but I couldn't justify spending that much for a computer whose reliability was worse than my POS dell, couldn't run have the programs I wanted and wasn't as stable as my POS dell.

My experiences have been very similar to yours so you're not an isolated case. Most long standing PC users will never 'get it' until they actually start using the Apple eco-system. I used to despise Apple myself and would avoid their products until I actually started using them. For all the reasons you have stated (and many more) I would never go back to PC's either. I actually feel sorry for those hard-nosed PC users that won't give Apple a try - they don't know what they are missing. Oh well, their loss.

My only regret was not moving to Mac OSX earlier in my life. I probably would have saved about 6 months of my life that I've wasted on Windows troubleshooting and tweaking over the years. Now I just get on with what I want to do and can be 100% productive and enjoy the experience while doing so.

Have any of you Visio lovers out there actually compared a Visio side-by-side with a Sony? The Visio's picture quality is crappy. Considering how long I keep a TV, I'll gladly pay a little more and enjoy a beautiful picture. Of course, if you get the Visio, take it home and watch it a while, you don't realize you're watching a crappy picture. Ignorance is bliss. Actually that's a wonderful metaphor for why people buy PCs instead of Macs. Crappy experience and low cost, but if you never use a Mac, you have no idea how great the experience is. Apple's phone support alone is worth any perceived increase in initial cost, let alone the offsetting worth of resale value. There will always be PC/Visio users that will foster a price over quality business plan for some manufacturers. It's OK, as one commenter mentioned, not everyone can afford quality. Just quit whining, it really is annoying to those of us who appreciate quality and can afford it.

Have any of you Visio lovers out there actually compared a Visio side-by-side with a Sony? The Visio’s picture quality is crappy. Considering how long I keep a TV, I’ll gladly pay a little more and enjoy a beautiful picture. Of course, if you get the Visio, take it home and watch it a while, you don’t realize you’re watching a crappy picture. Ignorance is bliss.
Sorry to break it to you but people aren't buying macs for their hardware specifications. They buy them for Mac OSX and the whole apple eco system. The hardware they release just becomes the icing on the cake. That's why the products you wow your friends with look like really nice icing but when you bite into them there is no cake. Hopefully one day you'll work this out and stop being an ill-informed troll.

Nick, I am being 100% honest. I am huge tech geek & love all technology including PCs. I use Windows machines and Office heavily at work (still do, but Macs are now taking hold in the office too). But I found over & over again between 1998-2007 nothing but problems. I would guess that 50% of the issues were due to he manufactures (especially the Dell machines) and 50% due to Windows OS. Look, I know we can spec out Windows machines cheaper without paying the "Apple tax". My point is that Apple makes gorgeous products using high end materials & for the most part their products last longer & present far fewer problems than their window counter parts. I also take exception to the comments that all Apple products are over priced since the MacBook Airs start at $999 & are competitively priced.

Look, what I didn't say is that I also currently own a Windows 7 machine (HP 600xt touchscreen). For the most part, I love the machine and the OS & look forward to installing Windows 8 onto it. But this machine started to act up after 30 days out of the box by always shutting down. HP did fix the issue and blamed an out of date driver but recently it started to act up again.

Bottom line, I am very happy that I switched over to Macs. I find their OS more enjoyable to use and their prodcuts best in class. I just get a bit defensive when people always just talk trash about Macs and its products since I know they never tried them.
