Like many other people I refuse to pay for such things, especially when at launch the PC versions of these games retail for around the $100 mark.
That doesn't mean that I haven't got and completed each and every single title, But I've only purchased 2 of the titles, because I liked the game and wanted to play multiplayer, Otherwise there is no point forking out money for something I can get for free and complete in a couple of hours (See; Games lack substance, too short, not worth the price).

60 to 100 Dollars (depending if you buy the map packs or not) once a year for several days of gametime (I usually get about 4 days of gametime out of a call of duty title) is money well spent if you ask me..... Yes the core gameplay does not change, but who cares it's pretty damn good, CoD4 had pretty much the best gunplay in any fps for a long time, I would gladly have just played that game with new maps released every 6 months for 4 or 5 years but obviously that's not how companies make money. Every CoD release has additions I like and additions I dislike, likewise they may take away some things I like and some things I dislike, every one has maps I love and maps I don't like as much. Yet everyone is entertaining and I'm usually ready for another iteration after 6 months let alone 12......

Innovation is all well and good but I can already see the articles about Black Ops 2 moaning how it changed the CoD formula too much and how people long for the older gameplay (I've seen this about every cod since 4 actually). If its not broken don't fix it, tweak it a little maybe but when each game outsells the last and clearly millions of people enjoy playing them year in year out what's the problem?

This is what happens when a game brand exerts a stranglehold monopoly on a genre. COD and FIFA really do have their respective markets wrapped up. In fact, it's not even really much of a coincidence that the audience of these two games are the most lucrative, and it's no suprise that there is a massive amount of overlap between the two. Since the (relative) demise of Pro Evolution Soccer and Medal Of Honour, COD and FIFA developers have really done the absolute minimum to keep their franchises going - but when about 90% of males gamers from the age 11-35 will probably cite these two as their most played, there's no need to fix something that ain't broke.

Admittedly, I'm no programmer, but I think all of these CoD games are running off the same engine, with a lot of the same recycled animations, effects, etc.

So these new games in the series seem more like expansion packs than new games--I think it would be awesome if they were sold as such at a reduced cost. I understand games take a lot of money to create, but when you're able to reuse that much of your code, it has to be cheaper than building a game from the ground up. Why not pass those savings on to your loyal fan-base that have already bought you a gold mansion?

If you want really good games ... stop buying them so eagerly
Do what smart people do ... wait 12 months before you buy the game
That will force the industry to create REAL games

its one thing to be a football fan and buy a new madden every year with a new roster, but useless to buy basically the same game.
i do feel that black ops and world at war were good variants to the title, even though i am not a call of duty or modern warfare fan.

and i hate to be 'that guy', but it seems a lot like buying each new iPhone to me...

As far as I'm concerned gaming is in the toilet, by and large due to Call of Duty and/or the yearly cash cow. Why should publishing houses push that new Tim Schafer game that might not sell well when they have a new Assassin's Creed or Battlefield or Call of Duty that they know is going to make them money hand over fist? These "safe" plays are eroding the core of gaming, and in the end will destroy gaming as we know it. Sure it's great for kids spending their parents money, but what about the people that genuinely want to be entertained by a new experience? I for one can't just keep playing crappy games for their stories because at least it's not a

If they introduced Dedicated Servers, maybe I would buy BLOPs. MW3 is a joke, from Clan Opps down to hit makers and LaG. Elite is nothing short of a rip off unless you own an X-Box because of the soon to be renewed aggreement between Microsoft and Activision, again.

Play real titles with out aim assist, noob perks and Killstreaks that support noob players "Stealth bomber anyone?".

Play KILLZONE or M.A.G. and watch all the COD fan boyz get there behinds handed to them because they can't QS and have to play the objective.

Personally I dont get it, Black Ops was OK but it was just like the others. The co op was fun, single player was to short, and the multi player was the same as the last Modern Warfare so no we dont need a new call of duty every year. Maybe they should take a year off come up with something new or maybe go back to WWII themes. Oh ya, Battlefield is better anyway.

The games are garbage and have been since MW2 and beyond. People get sucked into the idea of paying more and getting more when in fact you get the same gameplay and the game hasn't changed graphically that much.

Only thing going for this new one is it's a different theme but no doubt will be the same shit different year. Perhaps someone would like to buy my custom made Black Ops trainers that will make you walk faster to the local Greggs?

This article actually makes a good point. But compared to $60 for two movie tickets and dinner (4hrs entertainment), it's not too bad a deal.

I'll buy ANYTHING that eliminates lag compensation algorithms that produce corner bending "magic bullets". This is killing gameplay.

And to answer the question, yes, we will buy it every year because the entertainment value of multiplayer is a great bargain in today's market... People are paying $15 and up to see The Avengers... plunking down cash once a year for the next iteration of COD is no biggie. It will outsell all prior COD titles.

BTW, why is it so hard to keep the hack, cheats and boosters from ruining it for the rest of the legit players?
