DJI Phantom 3 drone revealed with newly chopped price points

This morning in New York City, DJI announced the third generation of their popular Phantom line. This will be the DJI Phantom 3, and it'll be all about hype. They've shown quite a few things being filmed with pre-production units including skiing on massive mountains, out in the wilderness, and over an active volcano. This device will be delivered with a new app for mobile devices, one that comes with accurate tracking, video adjustments, and live flagging for automatic video editing on-the-go.

This updated version of the Phantom works with an extended battery life, allowing users to be in the air for up to 23 minutes at a time. This updated version of the Phantom also works with an updated GPS radio – making certain you're exactly where you want to be at all times.

Everything you see above was filmed with early production versions of the Phantom 3.

Three sensors are incorporated within the Phantom 3, allowing you to fly both indoors and outdoors.

The pilot app – on iPad here – works with full video capture and adjustments within. This app also allows full LIVE YouTube feed sharing – right out of the box.

This app allows you to see where the Phantom 3 is at any given time, more accurate than on any model before.

Both models are able to shoot 12 megapixel photos using what DJI suggests is a "94⁰ FOV, distortion-free lens, and a high-quality, 1/2.3" sensor that is more sensitive to light than the sensor in previous Phantom 2 Vision models."

Both models are also able to use the DJI Pilot app and physical controls on in-box remote controllers.

Above and below you'll see additional video footage shot with early production models of the DJI Phantom 3 – likely the Professional model.

Two different versions of the device will be coming out – one Phantom 3 Professional, which will cost $1,259 USD, and the Phantom 3 Advanced will cost $999 USD.
