Want to upgrade the hard drive on your Xbox 360, but don’t feel like shelling out $179? Apparently you can get the same 120GB HDD on your 360 for a lot less.

Xbox 360 HDD

This is one of those hacks that requires a little bit of extra effort, but I’m sure that it’s nothing you can’t handle. You will need to get a specific hard drive. Very specifically, you will need a Western Digital SATA BEVS-LAT 120 GB drive. Then you’ll need to download the Hddhacker v0.90 tool created by TheSpecialist, copy your hddss.bin file from your original HDD over to the new one, and use it to flash the firmware on the new drive. See, it’s as easy as pie.

So there you have it, a little hard work to save you close to $100. Sadly, when you’re finished, your 360 won’t proudly announce its 120GB HDD on the front of the case. But it’s what’s inside that counts right?

well this is almost right the ss file from the orig drive has to be the sized for the new drive meaning that if you dump your 20gb ss file then flash it to the 120gb hdd then you will only be able to use 20gb of the drive for 120gb hdd you need 120gb .ss file from a real 120gb hdd to ues all of the space this will probly get you banned form live to

As stated before, you’ll get banned from Live for sure. If you’re so into using a nice large HDD, and don’t want to mod everything trying to prevent paying “the man” full price, just buy a PS3. Free PSN for online, and you can do what you want with the HDD. There is no special files to tell the system it’s a Sony product, actually there are many video’s on how to upgrade the PS3 on you tube, and they are not really user made, there are some that come from Sony. Just my two cents, I only have the 360 for the one off titles I can’t get for Sony, all others are bought for the PS3 for free online play.
