DIY wooden shoulder rig for DSLR movies rocks

The quality of video you can record on DSLR cameras today is very impressive. In fact, the entire season finale of the drama "House" was filmed using a Canon 5D MK II DSLR camera to prove exactly how good the quality is. To get the best shots though, you have to be very steady.

A DSLR video shooting guy and his dad teamed up to create a wooden shoulder rig for steady video recording with a DSLR camera. The rig was built form a single piece of a tree and includes a handle to let the user adjust focus with a simple twist of the wrist.

The guy says he came up with the design by looking at some of the best shoulder rigs on the market and then had his woodworking father make the rig out of a single branch from a tree. The results are impressive indeed.
