Dish Explorer App updated with volume, power control, and program recommendations

Dish Network has announced that it has updated one of its popular applications for the iPad. The app is called the Dish Explorer app and is designed to allow the iPad user to control their DVR among other things. Using the app viewers can control much of the Hopper Whole Home DVR system with their tablet.

Updates that Dish has made to the app add in some controls to the virtual remote that the app was missing previously. Those controls are a TV power button to turn your set on and off and the ability to control the volume of the TV. I think anyone that has used the app will agree those were irritating omissions.

The app is also been updated to help the user find more content that they want to watch. A new "Picked for Me" section has been added that is packed with personalized content recommendations. Content in this section is chosen based on the user's viewing habits.

The updated app is on the App Store right now for download. Dish first launched the Dish Explorer app in 2013. It is a second screen app that features social media support, remote control capabilities, and more. The app is gaining users with Dish saying that it increased active users 225% in its first year.
