Dirty Wiis won't play Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the US either

How many of you grabbed yourself a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl over the weekend? I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few of you did, but now I wonder how many of you can't get the game to play. Apparently the same issues that were cropping up with Japanese versions of the game are starting to pop up here in the US.

Naturally Nintendo is taking the same stance here as they did overseas. They are putting the blame on dirty lenses and recommending that you send in your Wii to have it properly cleaned. I can vouch that the game plays perfectly fine on a brand new Wii, however, those of you that smoke heavily may have some difficulties playing.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialized cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. (Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.)"
