Speaking of creepy tech designs, we have another, this time from a different competition, this one I could at least embrace as helpful though. Basically this thing gets inserted under your skin, connected to your bloodstream and then acts as a touch-screen interface, on your skin.

It also requires that you have some sort of special color changing ink tattooed into your skin in order for it to work, but essentially it would connect to your Bluetooth devices and act as an interface for those devices. It would also be able to connect to other devices that might one day be implanted in your body so you could check the status of your most recent brain replacement.

Sure its cool, but it looks to be at the very least painful to install. As far as it being green it would be powered from the glucose and oxygen in blood by turning the two into electricity, so it would be self sufficient in the same way a Vampire is self sufficient.

One Response to “Digital Tattoo Interface from the Greener Design Competition”

Very cool, although definitely with a bit of a creepiness factor. I think things like this will become more acceptable once the new generation comes into power as something like this is much less “sci-fi” to them which will probably allow them to overcome the creepiness of it. I would worry about how one would got about handling “dead pixels” on a display like this, and how difficult the process of replacing the thing would be. Also the tubes are mentioned except in passing, but it seems like installing those would be the most invasive portion of the operation.
