You have to wonder just how many variations on iPod speaker dock design there can be.  After you’ve seen a couple of hundred shiny black or white tubes, you’ve pretty much seen them all; still, this shiny tube from Trinity at least can boast some slightly unusual features.  The Diasonic will not only charge and amplify your Apple DAP, but its speakers are detachable and so can be spread out to better define the stereo sound.  That is, unless you’ve encoded all your music in mono, in which case you might as well throw half of the Diasonic set away.

Other than that, there’s not much to be said.  Each speaker is 3W, and the whole thing can run off 4 AA batteries (although it won’t charge the iPod until plugged into the mains).  Unsurprisingly it’s available in black or white, and for now is Japan only I’m afraid.  I also, personally, think that the centre dock unit, when speaker-less, looks a bit like the barrel from ace children’s’ game Pop-Up Pirate, which endears me slightly.
