Diablo III launch postponed until at least Q2 2012

For a while now we've been hearing that Diablo III would be landing this month. It seems that launch window isn't correct after all. Tom's Hardware reports that Blizzard will not be releasing any games in Q1 of 2012. The good news is that the game is still set for a 2012 launch. We don't know exactly when that launch will occur, but it won't happen until at least the second quarter putting the launch in April at the earliest.

The tip came from Activision's recent earnings report, which clearly stated the Q1 2012 outlook does not include a new release from Blizzard. Activision did report that two new releases from Blizzard Entertainment were expected in 2012. Some other good gaming news came out of the earnings report with Activision noting that the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection will come in March, and a new game in the COD franchise is expected this year.

Another new title expected this year is Skylanders Giants. During the earnings report, Activision also noted that World of Warcraft lost 100,000 subscribers leaving 10.2 million active users globally. The game is still the top subscription-based MMORPG around the world.
