Sprint is using it, found it on my phone with the Voodoo Carrier IQ app. Anyone know of a way to remove it?

Carrier IQ was not added by Google nor Apple, but rather by the carriers such as AT&T and Verizon. However, unlike Google’s Android, Apple does not allow carriers to add anything (aka. malware such as this Carrier IQ crap) to the phones before selling to the users. Furthermore, some Carrier IQ references was found in Apple’s iOS, but it appears to only be executed when the iPhone is running in diagnostic mode, not something a user would do on a daily basis. Having said that, nothing is 100% certain yet, aside from the fact that Carrier IQ sucks big time.

How would one know if it was on an iPhone since Apple is a closed system. Do we have access to the source code to know what is and is not on an iphone? (Honest question just looking for an answer)

We have to pick 3 new phones in 4 months. This could def steer us one way or the other.

i hate to point this out,since you seem to imply Apple and Jobs are Holy, but the software was found in iOS devices as well.. Leave the spin to politicians and network news-let us stick to facts here… please.

Ask your provider, and let your wallet speak-it is the only language they understand…

I think what this means is that carriers and manufactures are spying on their users, not Android itself, since it’s an app not part of the core OS
