Carrier IQ was not added by Google nor Apple, but rather by the carriers such as AT&T and Verizon. However, unlike Google's Android, Apple does not allow carriers to add anything (aka. malware such as this Carrier IQ crap) to the phones before selling to the users. Furthermore, some Carrier IQ references was found in Apple's iOS, but it appears to only be executed when the iPhone is running in diagnostic mode, not something a user would do on a daily basis. Having said that, nothing is 100% certain yet, aside from the fact that Carrier IQ sucks big time.
