Actually, I don’t think he was fired for outsourcing the work.. he was most likely fired for allowing unauthorized access to the systems. A major, and I mean really major, NO NO from a security point of view… Aside from that he was an idiot for not keeping all the invoices and uploads separate from his work computer and just doing the release work himself.. he was just being lazy and underestimated the corporation in finding out what he was doing…. but I must say… WELL PLAYED for years that it worked!

If they saw the invoices, they have a strong lead on an outsourcing provider that can fill his job. I would expect that while Bob is out of work, the people who were producing the code will have already found new work.

He and likes of him are a disgrace to the software engineering world. Likes of him destroy local jobs and talents. In software engineering, developers would become skillful by actually working on different projects, outsourcing the projects would only create software engineers (university graduates) locally without real world experience.

I agree with the sentiment that corporations are far worse than him anyway.

Sounds like bob read the 4 hour work week. Nothing original here. Even I tried a few times when I was working from home but it was a huge pain in the ass trying to communicate things with the firms that do the work.

This guy was smart maybe more workers should do the same, most company’s don’t appreciate their workers anyway so there is no harm in a little payback for a free paycheck.

I suspect that since the quality of the work was that good, that the un-named company will now be hiring the Shenyang coders for ongoing projects at a huge discount. I have a feeling Bob’s highly paid co-workers will be lining up to pay him a compliment soon. ;o)
