Dell Studio XPS 435 Core i7 desktop appears: 24GB RAM & Blu-ray

A new Dell desktop has been quietly launched, the Dell Studio XPS 435.  The slick, angled casing hides an equally slick, impressive set of components inside, with up to a 3.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor extreme edition sitting pretty on the X58 chipset, paired with up to 24GB of DDR3 memory and 4.5TB of storage spread across three drive bays.

There's also a choice of graphics options, topping out at the ATI Radeon HD4870, together with a few optical drive decisions; a Blu-ray drive is available.  As standard you get a 15-in-1 memory card reader, lurking above the top drive bay, and on the very top of the tower there's a charging nook for your PMP with a few of the XPS 435's eight USB 2.0 ports.

Other connectivity includes standard gigabit ethernet and optional WiFi n, both eSATA and Firewire, S/PDIF, front audio in/out connections and, round the back, separate speaker sockets for the integrated 7.1 surround sound.  The beast runs either Vista Ultimate or Home Premium (both the 64-bit editions) and we're still waiting on availability and price.
