ATT SIM card was the suggested unlock SIM. Bummer! Looks like HTC EVO 4G, is the 2nd choice.

Perhaps, when Dell goes 2.2, they will offer a CDMA version.

Why ATT? Latest reports were about unlocked and directly from Dell for just $500:

I don’t know about the frequencies it supports, but surely you can use it on any network if you buy it unlocked?

I love this device! I think it will be a real sweet-spot for hand held computing lite, with voice/video functions. Sadly, it will be in the hands of the devil… ATT.

The video looks as if the camera is on the backside. One sees your finger only when passing in front of the lens in back. Is that correct? If so, video chat may be a tough one.

true, but android 1.6 was released only 8 months ago. And a product design, testing and production preparation may need up to a year. And during that time, changing firmware may well resent the design and testing back to zero depending on what new requirements the upgrade brings.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback! That’s good to know, though it makes it a little frustrating that so many of the tablets we see are running Android versions earlier than 2.1.

i suspect it gets marketplace because it checks all the boxes of google’s android compatiblity document for 1.6, where one requirement was phone capability.

2.1 and later however makes phone capability optional (tho the firmware still need to include support for the phone software side, if only to inform other software that the feature is non-functional). So i wonder if the marketplace access will change once the companies switch to 2.1 or newer as their design goal (not going to happen until the current round is either market ready or canceled however, as they started with 1.6 as the goal).
