Dell Latitude 13 heads to school with its own integrated cart

This week Dell has ushered in their newest education-aimed notebook, one going by the name Dell Latitude 13. This device works with a choice of Intel Core i3 (4010U) or Intel Celeron Dual Core (2957U) processors and a choice of basically any operating system you want inside the Microsoft Windows family between Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8.1. The display on this machine comes in at a lovely 13.3-inches with HD (1366 x 768 pixels) with 200nits of brightness.

This device is also being released as a touchscreen machine, working with the same size and sharpness in its display, but covered with Corning Gorilla Glass NBT, trimmed in black. The non-touch option comes in black, Cosmic Red, or Sonic Blue. The Dell Latitude 13 is also part of the future-aimed non-optical drive-toting family, so you'll need to get an external CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive if you need one.

Dell presents this notebook this week with a starting weight at around 3.7lbs or 3.9lbs if you're working with a 6-cell battery instead of a 4-cell battery. That's for the non-touch model, while the starting weights for the touch version are 4.1 and 4.3lbs for the 4-cell and 6-cell battery options respectively.

This machine works with SSO, preboot authentication, and has an integrated Trusted Platform Module. You'll have Dell Data Protection and Encryption for security as well.

This machine also works with Dell's "Managed Mobile Computing Cart" which you'll see above. This card locks and charges laptops while allowing "overnight IT updates" from your staff – if you run a school, that is. This cart will be available starting in the summer of 2014 just after the Dell Latitude 13 itself.
