Dell Inspiron 15 now available

The Dell Inspiron 15 notebook has gone on sale, perhaps not the most inspiring of choices but a good budget option.  Configured as standard with an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 2.0GHz processor, 2GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM and a 250GB 5,400rpm hard-drive, the entry-level Inspiron 15 begins at $699.

As you might expect, the Inspiron 15 has a 15.6-inch widescreen display, here running at 1366 x 768 with a glossy finish; it also has an 8x DVD burner, Intel GMA X4500HD graphics, WiFi b/g and runs Windows Vista Home Basic.  The standard battery is a 4-cell, 28WHr pack.

Upgrades include up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, swapping out the DVD burner for a Blu-ray drive, and up to 320GB of storage; there's no SSD option, but that's no surprise given the model's positioning in Dell's range.  The company also offers both 6-cell and 9-cell batteries, 48WHr and 85WHr respectively.  They're available to order now
