Dell Download Store comes online

Look out, software CDs!  Dell seems to think we don't need you anymore.  The Dell Download Store is now open for business and seems to be the equivalent of the iTunes Music Store or Amazon, except for software downloads.

The store launches with titles from 12 publishers and more on the way.  Even more interesting is a statement that the site "will evolve" in the future to include other types of media – music, movies and games.

If pulled off correctly, this Dell store could really be something special.  I can already see Apple implementing some kind of Mac and PC software store into iTunes if they see Dell's store become successful.  Head over to downloadstore.dell.com to check out what Dell has to offer.
