Samsung Galaxy Note III, Xperia Z1 release dates spilled by 3 UK roadmap

A prospective roadmap of releases has been leaked today detailing the upcoming arrival of both the Samsung Galaxy Note III and the Sony Xperia Z1, aka Honami. These devices have been tipped as getting their first full showing during the Berlin-based festivities at IFA 2013 at their own unique events on the 4th of September. If this release schedule is correct, both devices will be on the market in the United Kingdom by the end of the month.

Google and Microsoft sue US government over FISA transparency

Google and Microsoft have sued the US government for the freedom to disclose FISA data surveillance requests, after demands from the two companies to reveal to users when the NSA requests information went unmet. "We believe we have a clear right under the U.S. Constitution to share more information with the public" Brad Smith, Microsoft's general counsel and executive vice president of legal and corporate affairs, wrote today, describing how while Google and Microsoft may often be seen as enemies, "today our two companies stand together."

It's been confirmed this morning that Apple retail stores will be launching their first iPhone trade-in program today. This program will allow iPhone owners to bring in gently used iPhones to Apple retail locations to receive credit at the Apple store that'll be good for use in purchase of a new iPhone model. This trade-in program is said to be good only with a new cellular contract in-hand - that is, you can't just head in to an Apple store and expect to leave with an Apple gift card.
