Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 shrinks a winner and adds Windows 8

This week the folks at Lenovo have revealed an all-in-one computer by the name of IdeaCentre A520 - a smaller version of the A720 we reviewed quite recently - with Windows 8 and 10-point multi-touch greatness. This machine is still able to adjust its display from -5 to 90 degrees flat, works with Ivy Bridge - 3rd Gen Intel Core processors of all kinds (i3 up to i7) and comes with Windows 8 (64 bit) right out of the box. You'll be working with unique touch-optimized applications and user interface updates with your basic build and will have the same great casing aesthetics as the A720 too.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series has been revealed this week with the Z500 and Z400 bringing up to Genuine Windows 8 Pro to a set of study, thin, and powerful notebooks. Unlike many of the devices revealed this week, the Z Series does not have a touchscreen interface. Instead you'll be working with an Intelligent Touchpad optimized for Windows 8 and its touch- and gesture-friendly UI.

If you're looking for the Lenovo style and grace and want 10-finger multi-touch action on an all-in-one beast of a computer this Fall, you're in luck with the B Series. The Lenovo IdeaCentre B340 and B545 bring the heat with two giant displays - the B545 working with a 23-inch frameless screen and the B340 having a 21.5-inch screen which can also function as a high-def TV running independent of the PC's OS. Lenovo IdeaPad U510 Ultrabook brings disk tray to the show

It appears that Lenovo has decided to take the idea that ultra-thin computers cannot have a disk drive and throw it out the window with their newest Ultrabook, the IdeaPad U510 - and it's got Windows 8, too! This machine comes in at 0.83-inches thin and has a 15.6-inch HD display along with a full keyboard and - yes indeed - an internal DVD reader/writer and Blu-ray Disc drive that pops out to accept your disks whenever you need it. The U510 will be appearing with a range of colors for its exterior and a fully metallic feel - with real metal!

Lenovo IdeaPad Y Series brings UltraBay for interchangeable upgrades

This week the folks at Lenovo have revealed their IdeaPad Y Series with a brand new interchangeable HDD bay they've called the UltraBay. This HDD bay is able to swap out for dual-graphics cards, increased storage space, an an additional fan for cooling. Outside this is either the Y500 with a 15.6-inch display or the Y400 with a 14-inch display - and notebooks in black and red!

Apple vs Samsung Japan: no patent infringement found yet

Today it appears that Samsung has been found free of any patent infringement in at least one part of their mobile device patent court case against Apple in Japan. There are several cases still being fought in matters relating to Apple and Samsung patents and design rights around the world, as it were, Japan only the most recent to release a partial verdict. This verdict has been reported by both Bloomberg and Reuters at this point, so we're expecting an official update within the next few hours as well.

Samsung may sue Apple over LTE implementation

Samsung has been indicating that it isn't going to Apple's victory in their high-profile patent case lying down. The company assured users that it "will take all necessary measures to ensure the availability of our products in the U.S. market," earlier this week, and will undoubtedly attempt appeal, going all the way up to the Supreme Court if it has to. But Samsung might have something up its sleeve, and it may not be long before we see Samsung taking Apple to court over patent infringement once more.

‘Paperwhite’ Kindle struts its stuff in leaked images

Amazon is widely assumed to be gearing up for a new Kindle Fire reveal next week, but recent rumors are also telling us that it might launch a new E Ink Kindle as well. If these new images from The Verge are the real deal, then we might be looking at the next E Ink Kindle, which appears to be a refresh of the Kindle Touch. As you can see from the images, Amazon is using the phrase "Paperwhite" to describe this Kindle, but whether or not that's the name of this new device remains to be seen.
