Three rolling out DC-HSPA ahead of 4G LTE trials

Carrier Three has jumped on the 4G bandwagon, but unlike rival Everything Everywhere, it's using next-gen DC-HSPA rather than LTE. Borrowing the (confusing) nomenclature used by T-Mobile USA and AT&T in the US - calling HSPA+ "4G" despite it being a version of 3G standards - Three's new service will offer up to 42Mbps connections, in theory at least. I think I used my original Apple TV all of four times since I received it. Early on it was a very boring device with little redeeming qualities. The new version of the Apple TV has been selling much more robustly than the original, and another new version is tipped to be coming in March. If you are a big fan of the first Parrot AR.Drone, you be glad to hear this. The second version of that cool iPhone controlled flying machine is going on pre-order starting March 1. The latest version is called the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 and it looks very similar to the original. Under 1 million Google TV devices in use tips Google data

We all know that Google TV didn't do well in the marketplace. Some of that failure wasn't necessarily Google's fault. The content most people hope to watch using the devices was blocked such as Hulu and the ability to stream content from network TV websites. That said some of the fault was certainly the fault of the hardware devices that were out there such as the Logitech Revue and the software. Three iPad 3 versions with no Home button tipped

Three variants of the new iPad 3 could be in the pipeline for a March release, according to sources, but only black WiFi models are tipped if you don't want 3G/4G connectivity. Product codes leaked to 9 to 5 Mac indicate Apple is readying iPad J1, J2 and J2A versions, with the first believed to be the WiFi-only model and the J2 and J2A including different combinations of GSM, CDMA and LTE connectivity. Meanwhile, SlashGear reader Matthew flagged up that, in Apple's invite graphic, the physical home button looks to be missing from the slate. Marvel graphic novels land on iBookstore

If you're an iPad toting fan of Marvel graphic novels, you can get your reading fix on your Apple gadgets via the iBookstore now. Marvel has announced that 80 of its graphic novels are now available for download from the Apple digital bookstore. It appears that at least one of these graphic novels is available free to get you started. Pricing on the digital books depends on the content, apparently starting at $6.99 and up. iPad trade-ins soar 10x as iPad 3 nears

iPad trade-ins on auction site eBay have soared tenfold in Februaary, reaching fever-pitch since Apple all-but-confirmed it would be revealing a new, third-gen model next week, as existing owners attempt to shift their older slate. Use of the site's Instant Sale service - which offers a set cash fee for hardware - is up 10x on 2011 numbers, eBay confirmed to CNET, with 97.6-percent of the tablets being traded in being Apple's iPad. Asteroid 2011 AG5 could hit the Earth in February 2040

An asteroid was discovered in 2011 and was named 2011 AG5. Since the asteroid's discovery, scientists have plotted as much of its orbit as they can. According to the scientists, there is a very small chance that the asteroid could impact the Earth in February 2040. However, there is no need to wake up Bruce Willis just yet. The scientists have only watched the asteroid for half of its orbit so they can't say for certain at this point where it will be 28 years from now. Read The Full Story

Samsung squashes iPhone in MWC awards

Samsung has pipped Apple to the post and won the coveted GSMA Best Smartphone award at Mobile World Congress, the Galaxy S II taking the crown in devices and Samsung itself named Device Manufacturer of the Year. The news follows Apple's surprise victory with the iPhone 4 at MWC 2011 - despite not even attending the show. However, Samsung's tablets were less fortunate, with the iPad 2 grabbing the Best Mobile Tablet award as a product "that has defined the market." QNX Porsche 911 Hands-on

It's strange to see a vehicle here at MWX 2012, especially one running BlackBerry - but here it is, a QNX Porsche 911 working also with a set of BlackBerry PlayBooks. This vehicle has the ability to connect to your BlackBerry smartphone using NFC to stereo telephony, while connections between devices then works instantaneously from there on out with Bluetooth. Control the music at the front of the car with the PlayBooks set in the seats in the back, play video from one part of the car to the other, and roll out on the web throughout the vehicle. Raspberry Pi $35 computer goes on sale: Sells out in 2hrs

The Raspberry Pi $35 open-source computer has gone on sale, and early demand for the incredibly capable mini-PC has already seen retail partner sites melt down under the stress. Announced back in 2011, as part of the $25 computer project, the $35 version is the more advanced “Model B” unit which has seemingly grabbed the attention of developers and tinkerers. Meanwhile, the $25 “Model A” version is going into production now.

Google has revealed its latest homepage doodle, celebrating composer Gioachino Rossini's 220th birthday along with Leap Day, and with a distinctly froggy theme. The composer - who was born on February 29, 1792 - is best known for the opera The Barber of Seville, depicted in Google's doodle as being performed by a selection of leaping frogs.
