Microsoft accidentally flagged Chrome as malware

Earlier today, Microsoft's Security Essentials mistakenly flagged Google Chrome as malware and began blocking the program. In many instances Chrome was entirely removed from users' computers. Amazon Kindle originally based on CEO Bezos’ BlackBerry

There's no doubt the original Kindle, although popular, wasn't all that attractive. It had an angular design with a split keyboard and an odd scroll wheel. And now we know why. According to the NY Times, who spoke with an early Kindle hardware designer, that original version was so ugly because it was modeled after Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' BlackBerry smartphone. Fiat 500: perhaps the coolest cheap car ever

There were a bunch of cool cars at the Texas State Fair and a bunch of them scattered around were entry-level cars that were designed to be a cheap means of transportation. Most of them looked like cheap cars too. When I ambled by the Fiat booth the new Fiat 500 and 500C caught my eye right away. Sony has confirmed in a recent interview with ASCII that it's upcoming PS Vita portable gaming console would have 3G download limits and that its proprietary memory cards would be system-specific. Although not completely unexpected, it's a bit surprising that the device will require a completely new memory card format that will not be compatible with any of Sony's other products. The folks at the Virgin Mobile offices in Canada must be having a big American party today because they've once again secured some fairly awesome Android phones to deal another wave of damage to the rest of the market share competition in the USA. That may be a bit of a stretch, but compared to past offerings, the LG Optimus Slider and the HTC Wildfire are certainly contenders for their ever-greatening Android team. The LG Optimus Slider is not the same as the LG Optimus Note we saw a few weeks ago, but it does have a full QWERTY keyboard sliding out from under it - the HTC Wildfire S, on the other hand is basically the same version we've seen in England and on T-Mobile. iOS 5 Assistant voice control gets mockup video

Apple's upcoming release of iOS 5 is expected to include an advanced voice recognition technology that will enable a major new feature rumored to be called Assistant. This feature will allow users to perform a variety of tasks on their iPhones, such as sending text messages, checking email, and scheduling appointments, all by voice commands. AT&T confirms iPhone insurance hike on October 4

AT&T has confirmed previous rumors that it will be increasing the cost of iPhone insurance starting October 4. The carrier looks to be taking advantage of the high influx of new iPhone customers that will likely result from next Tuesday's unveiling of the iPhone 5. Google Nexus Prime renderings appear accurate

It looks like those fabulous 3D illustrators are at it again, this time to bring us a good glimpse at what might well be what the Nexus Prime looks like. It’s the fine team of renderers at Ciccarese Design that draw us up a look at what might well be the next hero phone for Google’s mobile operating system, this time looking rather similar to two devices: the last Nexus phone, aka the Nexus S from Samsung, and the Samsung Galaxy S II line here in the USA. From what we understand via the ever-expanding rumor library surrounding this device, that combination might not be all that far off from the truth.
