Samsung Galaxy S II Coming to USA via Verizon First, So Sayeth Mueller

Industry analyst Paul Mueller spoke today on the Samsung Galaxy S II, noting that according to his intel, the device will be coming out extremely soon, and with Verizon as a carrier about a month before anywhere else. He spoke rather specifically, saying that the Galaxy S II would very possibly be in the states in mid August (2 to 3 weeks from now,) and that Samsung would indeed be marketing the device directly against the iPhone. Face Detection API Added To iOS 5

Back during Apple's WWDC 2011, when they highlighted several of the new features to come with Mac OS X Lion, one involved a demo showing face detection technology being used in the popular self-portrait app, Photo Booth. Xbox 360 Media Remote and Bluetooth Wireless Headset Announced

It's time for some more Xbox bits and pieces! Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson, aka Larry Hyrb has a personal message for you in the video below, showing off the headset side of this equation, letting you know that the "Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth" will be available November 2011, just in time for the holidays, and it'll be US ERP (estimated retail price) at $59.99. This device, says Hyrb, will go on to replace the current Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, but whether or not that means the original headset will cease to work / degrade / explode into flames in November is still yet to be seen. Kobo Circumvents Apple With HTML 5 Web App

Several major e-book publisher apps, including Amazon's Kindle, Google Books, and Barnes & Noble Nook, had their store links stripped away yesterday as Apple's new in-app purchasing policy was laid down in full force. The Kobo store and e-reader was among these apps, but today announced an HTML5 web app alternative for customers to continue purchasing e-books from the Kobo store in a convenient way. Motorola XOOM 3G customers who have been patiently waiting for the promised 4G LTE upgrade, have gotten a little worried in recent months as rumors emerged that the company was pushing a new tablet and leaving previous customers in the cold. BlackBerry Bold 9930 Outed By Verizon Ahead Of Official Announcement

RIM is expected to launch seven BlackBerry 7 OS smartphones before the end of this year, with one of them being the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930. Just yesterday, the company's Twitter account hinted at a major announcement to come today, asking followers to check back for details on the upcoming phones, but it looks like Verizon beat them to the punch with a video demo of the device. Samsung Galaxy S II Slide from AT&T Pictured in Photos

It appears that in addition to the HTC Puccini 10-inch tablet having its press images leaked today, there's another AT&T-bound device hanging in the rafters. This handset is a Samsung device by the looks of it, employing a slide-out keyboard, an 8-megapixel camera on the back with a flash and speaker grille, textured battery cover, and by the looks of its model number SGH-I927, may well be a variant of the hottest Android device in the world, the Galaxy S II. HTC Puccini Tablet Press Images Leaked

It appears that HTC's newest effort in the Android business has been revealed in real live photo form. That or there's a rather talented mock-up artist amongst us creating a masterpiece when they should be working for HTC. This tablet takes a step away from their previous tablet, the HTC Flyer, in that it's not White (though it's HTC EVO View brother certainly isn't either), and that it's got one solid piece covering the entirety of its back instead of the EVO-ish three piece situation. This tablet will almost certainly be released before the dropping of Androids 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this fall, and will therefor be running something along the lines of Android 3.1 or 3.2 Honeycomb upon release. HP Pavillion dm1-3010nr LTE Release Date Confirmed for July 28

Verizon Wireless revealed on Tuesday that they'd be releasing the world's first 4G LTE enabled notebook, it being the model dm1-3010nr HP Pavillion. This notebook was revealed at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, aka CES 2011, now officially prepared for release by HP and Verizon on July 28th, a big launch day for Verizon as they also have prepared the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE for this Thursday as well. This device will have 4G LTE capability built in, runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit out of the box, and is 1.2-inches thin. Read The Full Story

Sony Walkman A Series Press Images Leaked

Everyone's favorite legendary name in personal music players, that being the Walkman, has been revealed to be expanding the family with the high-end Sony Walkman A series. UK retailer Play.com has created a placeholder spot for the new series of digital music players, this piece of industrial design looking rather different from all of its predecessors, it having a headphone jack at the bottom, a single thumb-indented Home button in the center bottom on the front, and the entire works looking rather like a smartphone with a large touchscreen taking up the majority of the real-estate. The back of the device has the Walkman "W" with only a smaller version of the text logo near the bottom and a reset button to keep it company - it's lonely there at the back. Read The Full Story

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE Launch Date July 28

Verizon's version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, aka their 4G LTE model, has been confirmed for July the 28th, aka two days from the day this post is posted. This is not the first time this tablet has been released into the wild, as a Wi-Fi edition, but it is the first time it's been connected to a carrier, and certainly the first time it's been on Verizon. Your humble narrator has had the honor of checking out both the standard edition (see review on Android Community for this) and the Google I/O Limited Edition of this device already - can't wait for those sweet LTE speeds! AViiQ Portable Charging Station now available

Back in March, I mentioned some new AviiQ gear that was coming to market. One of the items is finally now available. The gadget is called the AViiQ Portable Charging Station. The station is an interesting device in a zipper bag that will charge three devices that use USB ports at the same time.
