Projecting a head-up display onto your windshield is so passé; Autoglass reckons the future of digital driving is having augmented reality baked into the glass itself. The company has thrown together a video demo of what it believes the windshield of your car will be like in 2020, throwing in intelligent location-based services that can hunt down gas stations, flag up cyclists and pedestrians angling to get run over, and warn you when there's a speed camera nearby.

Windshield of 2020 packs Augmented Reality [Video]
Huawei Windows Phone “probably” arriving 2012
ZTE's decision to jump on board the Windows Phone train with a mouthful of tasty Mango has seemingly pushed arch-rival Huawei's hand, with the company's CMO confirming that it will "probably" release a WP-based device in 2012. Exec Victor Xu told ZDNet that Huawei has "had some discussions with Microsoft" but has so far been "just watching" the market's response to the Windows Phone platform.

Lions shoot their own documentary with photographer’s camera
Wild animals are creepy, especially the large ones that could eat me if I happened on them in the wilds. Even the animals at the local zoo can give you the creeps when the lions stare at you as if they would like a snack. In fact, one time my daughter turned her back to the glass front of the tiger cage about the time it pounced at her behind the glass. She steers clear of the tiger enclosure now. I do like to see the shows about the big cats in Africa on Discovery Channel, they are interesting to me.

If you take your smartphone with you and head to a concert or other festival where you end up tweeting how all your pals should be there, shooting video and taking pics all with your phone you know how fast your battery can go dead. Sony NGP speculative specs shaved to cut costs
The Sony NGP sounds like it will be a very cool portable game system. Sony is hoping that the NGP will be able to compete with the Nintendo 3DS in sales the way the original PSP was never able to compete with the Nintendo DS. Whether or not the competition will be what Sony hopes for remains to be seen. So far, we really don't know all the official specs for the NGP. We do know a few things though like the console is supposed to come in 3G or WiFi versions.

LEGO ukulele can actually be tuned and played
LEGO has to be one of the more impressive and geeky building systems ever dreamed up. The people that invented the little bricks should win a Nobel Prize for something. It never ceases to impress me that geeks can build some very interesting gear using the little blocks. The last time I talked about a LEGO build was when a geek built himself a Master Chief suit out of the bricks. Now a guy has taken a box full of bricks and made his own musical instrument.

Apple App Store far more paid-app friendly than Android Market
Developers looking to sell paid apps will likely find richer pickings in the iOS App Store rather than the Android Market, according to research firm Distimo, which has discovered that around 80-percent of paid titles for Android devices are only downloaded less than 100 times. Meanwhile, only two paid Android apps have been downloaded more than 500,000 times worldwide since the Android Market launched, versus six paid iOS apps breaking that milestone over the past two months in the US alone.

Back during CES in January, we spent a little hands-on time with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Eee Pad Slider. The tablets were both cool and while months have passed since then and the Slider still hasn't made its official appearance and some are getting impatient. If it's been so long you don’t even remember what the tablet is about, I will run down the specs for you. The key feature is that the Slider has a slide-out keyboard.

Intel: We’d make custom chips possibly with rival cores
When it comes to the computer realm Intel supplies the vast majority of all the processors that are used inside computers today. When it comes to the mobile market with tablets and smartphones, Intel has no chips that can compete with rival ARM and others on low power consumption so it's not a force in those markets. Intel is apparently willing to consider making processors in its foundries using its high-end manufacturing tech that aren't based on Intel core designs.

Apple patent hints at new method to avoid exploding battery suits
If you have been around the tech world for a while, you will remember the massive recalls of a few years back over laptop batteries that were bad and could randomly explode and catch fire. There were photos of notebooks spontaneously bursting into flames on the web and it seemed every time we turned around someone was issuing a battery recall. Even Apple got caught in the recall frenzy and ended up having to pay out to one Japanese man who was burned when his MacBook caught fire.

PlayStation Network Asia back online Friday: Compensation detailed
Sony's restoration of the PlayStation Network continues, with Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand all set to get their online gaming and Qriocity streaming media back from tomorrow, Friday May 28. The functionality will include online play for the PS3 and PSP, PlayStation Home, Friend List services and the network functionality for the Torne digital TV tuner.

Android developers next in line for Lodsys in-app patent punch
In-app patent holder Lodsys hinted that Apple developers wouldn't be the last to find patent licensing demands dropping into their inbox, and now it seems the company's attention has turned to Android. At least one Android developer has apparently received documentation claiming they have infringed Lodsys' IP, after implementing in-app payment systems in their app.
