Over dinner my father looks at me and says, with a straight face: “I hear Google might start building its own phone.” I’m trying to figure out which direction to take the conversation. Condescension would be too aggressive, no matter how much my inner troll wants to bait him. Do I explain that Google is not only making a phone OS, but that they will soon rival Microsoft in the netbook space with a new desktop OS? Too technical.

Pogoplug cloud printing support due this summer

The second Pogoplug update in around a month has been announced, promising remote printing functionality for the network-attached drive sharing device.  The new update, due for release this coming summer, will add a new Web Printing tool when a USB printer is hooked up; users will be able to send print jobs locally or remotely, or even email them direct to the printer. Pioneer Computers DreamBook ePad A10 Win 7 slate goes on sale

Slate-style computers aren't unusual - we've seen plenty of them this year, spurred on by iPad envy - but finding one up for sale is still relatively rare.  Australian firm Pioneer Computers seem to have just that, though; their DreamBook ePad A10 is apparently available to order now, priced from AU$599 (US$512), running Windows 7 on a choice of Intel Atom N455 or N475 processors. Sennheiser PX 210 BT apt-X Headphones Review

Bluetooth stereo audio has certainly helped many people cut the cord between their PMP, cellphone or laptop and their headphones, but the underwhelming default audio codec also generally means cutting out some of the fidelity, too. Sennheiser are hoping to change that with their PX 210 BT headphones, which use the proprietary apt-X codec for what’s promised to be “true hi-fi quality”. Froyo coming Q3 to Desire, Legend and Wildfire confirms HTC

Updates for the HTC Desire, Legend and Wildfire aren't far off, as HTC has confirmed that they're planning an Android 2.2 Froyo roll-out - complete with HTC Sense, of course - sometime from Q3 2010.  According to the company's UK team, the three handsets are among "several of our 2010 models" that will get the updated version of the Android OS, which their engineers are currently hard at work on. Importer Dynamism has announced pricing and availability for the Viliv N5 MID, which will begin shipping in the US from July 19th 2010.  The compact clamshell - which has a 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen, Intel Atom 1.3GHz Z520 processor and 32GB SSD - will be available in two configurations, differentiated by integrated 3G. iPhone 4 proximity sensor issues are Apple’s latest woe

Time to add another complaint about the iPhone 4 to the list?  Over at Apple's support forums there are a significant number of complaints about the smartphone's proximity sensor, which is generally used to shut off the iPhone 4's display whenever you're holding it against your face.  According to various owners, the sensor isn't consistently recognizing proximity and thus randomly activating the touchscreen mid-call; that's leading to calls being accidentally muted or ended, or second calls initiated. Virgin Mobile USA MiFi 2200 on sale now for $149.99 contract-free

As expected, Virgin Mobile USA has launched the Novatel MiFi 2200 as its latest mobile broadband offering, pairing the mobile WiFi hotspot with various pre-pay data packages.  Priced at $149.99 for the MiFi itself - which is capable of sharing an EVDO Rev.A 3G connection with up to five WiFi-connected clients - service plans range from $10 for 100MB through to $60 for 5GB of data. Fujitsu LifeBook TH700 convertible dual-mode tablet PC quietly outed

Fujitsu's latest consumer tablet PC has emerged quietly, showing up this weekend on the company's estore.  The Fujitsu LifeBook TH700 kicks off at $1,099 and has a 12.1-inch dual-mode display - that reacts both to multitouch finger gestures and an active stylus for more precise input - together with an Intel Core i3-350M 2.26GHz processor, 4GB of RAM and a DVD burner.  There's also a 320GB HDD, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and Intel HD graphics with an HDMI output. Foxconn resorts to stringing nets between buildings to stop suicides
