Elgato EyeTV Netstream DTT: TV for your whole network

Elgato have launched a new digital TV tuner intended for use with PCs and Macs, but while most such tuners plug in via USB 2.0 the EyeTV Netstream DTT hooks up to your home network.  Recognising the fact that many users lack decent DVB-T/Freeview coverage or a hard-wired antenna in every place they want to view TV at home, Elgato's new system streams content to PCs and Macs via WiFi or wired ethernet.

Recognizr gives Android face-recognition skills [Video]

One of Sony Ericsson's headline features for the XPERIA X10 is facial recognition, with the phone able to identify individuals in photos and link them to their entry in the address book.  Developers The Astonishing Tribe look to be planning something similar for all Android devices, though; Recognizr, currently a proof-of-concept, can spot people from a live camera view and surround them with links to their various connected content, whether that be a local Contacts entry or their online social networking profiles and blogs.

NVIDIA Fermi GeForce GTX 470/480 cards scarce at launch?

AMD are hammering away with their DirectX 11 graphics cards - the ATI Radeon HD 5830 made official this morning is a good example - but things may not be quite so ship-shape over at NVIDIA.  According to DigiTimes' sources, despite NVIDIA's intent to announce their Fermi-based GeForce GTX 470/780 GPUs on March 26th, there'll be a limited number of actual shipping cards at the time.  That, they reckon, is down to NVIDIA's reluctance to part with reference board designs.

Pentax X90 162.5x Intelligent Zoom camera outed

How much zoom is too much zoom?  That's something you'll have to ask Pentax, whose new X90 camera - the successor to the Pentax X70 - boasts a 26x optical zoom and a special "Intelligent Zoom" feature that, they reckon, can extend it to 162.5x "without compromising the optical performance".  Behind that long-stretching lens there's a 12.1-megapixel sensor and both optical and digital anti-shake systems.

Viliv S10 Blade full pricing leaks: too expensive

While we got our first glimpse of Viliv S10 Blade pricing yesterday, when import specialist Dynamism confirmed the convertible touchscreen netbook would kick off from $699, we've still been waiting for full pricing across all seven models.  A little Google Shopping magic later, however, and one UMPC Portal commenter has dug up all the pricing; as we feared, the S10 Blade isn't going to be an especially affordable system.  Full price/spec list after the cut.

Nintendo DSi XL gets March 28th US launch: $190

Nintendo have confirmed the North American release date for their DSi XL gaming handheld.  The DSi XL - which has already been on sale for several months in Japan, as the DSi LL - will drop on March 28th, bringing with it dual 4.2-inch LCD displays for $189.99.  Since a console is no use without games to play on it, Nintendo have also announced a range of new titles for the coming months.

ATI Radeon HD 5830 gets official: DirectX 11 but slightly too expensive?

AMD have announced their latest graphics card, the ATI Radeon HD 5830, just as they were predicted to last week.  The HD 5830 slots into the sub-$250 bracket and supports DirectX 11, ATI's Eyefinity multi-display technology and ATI Stream; however it also confirms yesterday's leaked specifications, which revealed that the card would not be as powerful - in comparison to its HD 5850 sibling - as some users had anticipated.
