Next iPhone will have Google Latitude built in

Vincent is at the Google I/O keynote right now, and they’ve just announced that the next iPhone (meaning yes, there will be another one) will have Google Latitude built in. In case you’re wondering what Latitude is, the service is built into Google Maps, and offers users real time location of their friends and family, with the ability to use the GPS to send notifications of location to whoever they want to. Of course, all this information is protected if you don’t want to share it, but for those that do, it allows a great way of communicating with and finding people near your location.

Atom “cannibalizing” Celeron as netbooks eat into notebook sales

Intel's European sales chief has revealed that netbook sales are now around 20-percent of overall notebook sales, and that demand for the company's Atom processor has meant "cannibalization of Celeron".  According to Christian Morales, sales of netbooks in the UK and Italy have reached as much as a quarter of all notebook sales. Active Media speedy SSD upgrades for Dell Mini 9 netbook

LG GD900 landing July 1st: live photos

LG have announced a launch date for their GD900 cellphone, promising that UK buyers will be able to pick up the clear-keyboard slider from July 1st.  Packing a full touchscreen LCD, as well as a touch-sensitive slide-down transparent control panel, the GD900 uses the same OS and UI as the LG Arena; Pocket-lint were on hand to grab these live photos. LG 23-inch 3D LCD is world’s brightest [Video]

LG have unveiled a 23-inch LCD monitor which, the company claims, could pave the way for low-cost 3D computing and entertainment.  The full-HD 1080p panel uses traditional time-sequential split-image technology to offer individual views of each image for each eye, which the brain combines into a 3D whole.  However, by integrating this 3D technology into the panel itself, LG can make the panel brighter and reduce the complexity in the accompanying viewing glasses. Numark SCRATCH DECK controller launched

Numark have released details on their SCRATCH DECK controller for Scratch: The Ultimate DJ on Xbox 360 and PS3.  The controller - which can be flipped around to suit left- and right-handed gamers - comprises of a free-spinning, touch-sensitive turntable and five drum pads, used for triggering either in-game samples or those recorded using a USB microphone.   Read The Full Story

Apple boost $999 MacBook specs: faster CPU, RAM, more storage

Intel Nehalem-EX server CPU: 8 cores, 16 threads, 64 DIMMS per platform

Intel have announced their latest Xeon processor, the eight-core Nehalem-EX.  Intended for servers, though providing an interesting insight into what the consumer Core i7 architecture might evolve into, Nehalem-EX can support up to sixteen threads with 24MB of shared cache, Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost.
