Skype app for iPhone & iPod touch confirmed for Tuesday

, Mar 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

Skype have confirmed that a version of their VoIP software for the iPhone will be released tomorrow, Tuesday March 31st.  Rumored to be in the works last week, the free iPhone Skype app will use the smartphone's WiFi connection to make free Skype-to-Skype calls or ring landlines for around 2.1 cents per minute. What won't be possible is VoIP over 3G.  This is, according to Skype, due to Apple's App Store limitations; neither Apple nor AT&T would comment on the situation.  In contrast, the Android Skype application - launched back in January - will work over either 3G or WiFi. Clarion MiND price cut: still too expensive

, Mar 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

The Clarion MiND navigation-MID seemed like a great idea when we first saw it back in January 2008, but a lengthy time to market and a car crash of a review has seemingly turned off all but the most avid of Clarion collectors.  That's why, we'd wager, Amazon has had to lower the price of the MiND: you can now pick up the white and red versions of the MID for just $530. SlashGear Week in Review – Week 13 2009

, Mar 29th 2009 Discuss [0]

This week on SlashGear, we had some great articles, taking a look at some exciting new products, and one of us got to experience Beverly Hills pampering during his trip to visit DreamWorks and HP. I had the chance to review Apple’s newest button-less wonder, the iPod Shuffle 3rd Generation. It’s a great sounding mp3 player with some quirks that may take some time to get used to.

iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen Review

, Mar 27th 2009 Discuss [1]

For those of you who poke fun at Apple’s design philosophy, you have some new joke material.  Not to be outdone by the single button concept on the iPhone, Apple has created a device with ZERO buttons. FCC gets LG GM630 flip; shows TV tuner for US

The FCC got their hands on the LG GM630 flip today and it seems this handset might just be making its way to the U.S. with a TV tuner at the ready. That would certainly make for an interesting mobile phone, wouldn't you say? We don't know any of the official specs as of yet, but what we do know is that it will be very similar to the LG HB620T, which is available currently in Europe. We can assume it will have a 240 x 320 rez screen with a 2-megapixel camera. Other features will possibly be an FM radio tuner and Bluetooth. But with a TV tuner thrown into the mix, it's hard to say how this one will work. The big question on everyone's minds right now is how the TV signals will get to the phone in the first place. MediaFLO seems like a likely option, but nothing is official at the moment. [via UnwiredView]
