, Dec 23rd 2008 Discuss [0]

Last month's remote control power outlet piggybacked onto a Linksys NSLU2; this month, we're still all about remotely triggering power from a web browser or cellphone with WAP browser, but the system is built from scratch.  Josh Harle started with a PIC16F84, a cheap programmable chip, which links up to an always-on home server that has a custom Java app doling out commands to eight different AC switches. , Dec 23rd 2008 Discuss [1]

Sony's Home interactive environment for PS3 owners launched at the same time worldwide, so you'd be forgiven for assuming that the user experience is the same no matter where you live.  In reality, there are plenty of differences between the three geographic regions - North America, Europe and Japan - including changes in scale, entertainment on offer and what Sony will try to sell you in the mall. Garmin dispute sales predictions, pointedly ignore Android device rumors

, Dec 23rd 2008 Discuss [0]

Garmin have responded to the same Digitimes report yesterday that suggested the company was planning a new range of Android-based devices in the second half of 2009.  The primary point of disagreement is in Digitimes' "sales figures and product rollout schedules"; quoting Garmin's Asia Pacific marketing director Tony An, the publication claimed that 2008 total sales would amount to 18 million units.  Now Garmin appear to be distancing themselves from those predictions, perhaps paving the way for lower performance figures.   Read The Full Story
