Lian Li XB01: quieter DVD playback but gaming still loud

With the ink on an extended warranty to cover Red Ring of Death incidents only just dry, it might seem crazy to take apart your XBox 360 - voiding the guarantee in the process - and decant the contents into a new casing.  That's what Lian Li are suggesting, however, with their XB01 Cooling Chassis; bit-tech have just had theirs in the mail, and set about getting their donor 360 naked to post some first impressions.

NZXT have taken the wraps off of their latest E-ATX PC case, which pretty much sets its stall out by its name: Whisper.  Claiming it "sets a new standard for silent computing performance", NZXT have outfitted the Whisper with nine HDD bays and a variety of padding and rubberized mounts to reduce escaping noise.

Canon has announced two new portable digital photo printers in their Selphy range, the ES3 and the cheaper ES30.  Each has a built-in 15-in-1 memory card reader, are PictBridge compatible, use integrated ink & paper cartridges and have an LCD preview screen: 3.5-inches with wide-angle viewing on the ES3, 3-inches on the ES30.  The ES3 also gains 1GB of onboard storage, to allow regularly accessed images to be kept on the printer itself.

Panasonic will be bringing their latest super-sized plasma TV to IFA 2008, in the shape of the 103-inch VIERA TH-103PZ800.  This is no prototype or demo model, though; stump up $50,000 and you can take the HDTV home, complete with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 24p playback, Deep Color and x.v.Color support.

Lexar has rolled out a pair of 16GB USB flash drives in its JumpDrive range, the FireFly and Secure II Plus.  The FireFly is the more basic of the two, with a simple blue LED indicator to show drive activity and red colored casing.  The Secure II, meanwhile, has a built-in capacity meter indicating how much storage space remains.  It also includes 256-bit AES encryption software to secure whatever data is on it.

Navigon have announced their latest GPS, the 7200T, with real-time Clear Channel Total Traffic updates (and a lifetime subscription), "Reality View Pro", which instantly creates on-screen lane and sign information to guide you through intersections, and "Landmark View 3D", which displays 3D landmarks across the US and Canada. The 7200T also accepts voice entry destination setting, has text-to-speech for reading out street names, and can be used as a Bluetooth hands-free kit with your cellphone.
