Rumor: Apple Newton making a comeback?

Do you remember that little PDA that might have been attractive back in the day, but now would be considered sin’s uglier cousin? Well it appears with the advent of the iPhone and iPod Touch, and their successes, Apple is considering having another go at the whole PDA thing.

In 2004 Steve hinted at a PDA project that Apple had scrapped just before it went to market. Now there have been reports of two teams working at infinite loop, with the two goals occasionally coming to an intersection. Those two teams would the the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch team and the Apple PDA team.

iPhone Dev Team issues statement responding to Apple unlocking warning

Well, Steve Jobs said it’s a Cat and Mouse game, and so the game continues. Apple has recently warned unlocked iPhone users that the next firmware update might render their iPhone unusable. The iPhone Dev Team, a group that made the unlocking possible released a statement over Apple’s warning.

Gateway One – Sleek All-in-one desktop

Gateway One – Sleek All-in-one desktop

Gateway today announced a sleek desktop PC called The One that looks equally (or more) attractive than the new iMac. I personally think the One is a long lost brother of the new iMac.

Gateway One design resembles characteristics of Apple iMac with its slot-loading side mounted DVD burners and the connectors such as three USB ports, one FireWire, and audio in/out. Wall mounting kit is also available to allow consumer to mount the system on the wall.

Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD700

This nifty little digital camcorder has an amazingly small size and a form factor perfect for holding in your hand. It’s so small in fact, that it’s the world’s smallest 720p HD movie camera. The geniuses at Sanyo even threw in a quick standby mode that allows the camera to go from standby to filming in 1.3 seconds.

You can take pictures and record movies with this multi-colored camera. Both video and still images get stored on either an SD or SDHC card. Like I said, it will do 720p video or you can shoot stills at 7.1MP.

Sony Ericsson patent application unveils sliding touchscreen phone

Personally, I don’t like it, based on looks alone. Say what you want about not judging a book by its cover, but I don’t like it. First of all it’s a reverse slider, that was a bad idea from the beginning.

The screen should always be on top in my opinion, especially when it’s a touch screen. Apparently they don’t think so, sure doing it this way decreases the chances of the screen getting broken in the pocket of its owner, but it doesn’t look near as good, or seem to offer as much instant functionality.

T-Mobile Sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide

What a beautiful day for a T-Mobile Sidekick refresh! Two new models for you, the first is the Sidekick LX which is apparently from Danger. The second is the Sidekick Slide which is from Motorola.

The first one, the LX has a 320x240 screen, ambient lighting, technology fro Sharp’s AQUOS TVs, and a microSD card slot. The thing is bundled with 128MB card. The LX also has a 1.3MP camera.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ “Black Edition” hand picked for over clockers

Consider yourself handy when it comes to overclocking and cooling? AMD just hooked you up then, I mean how often does a processor manufacturer release a 64 bit dual core processor that has unlocked multipliers?

Satellite X205-SLi1 and X205-SLi3 – Toshiba Gaming Laptops

Toshiba is adding two Satelitte laptops targeted towards power gamers. The X205-SLi1 and X205-SLi3 is nothing less than a beast in term of specs.

Both laptops feature Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. The SLi1 uses 2.0Ghz T7250 and the SLi3 uses the faster 2.2Ghz T7500. Base machine ships with 2GB of DDR2 RAM and it could be upgraded to 4GB DDR2 RAM. On the graphics side, Toshiba chooses Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT GPU with 512MB GDDR3 memory for both SLi1 and SLi3.

Brando Credit Card MP3 Player

I am sure by now you have probably seen a credit card shaped and sized MP3 player before. Only, chances are good, the one you saw cost a considerable amount more than this one.

Apparently there was another company with such an offering earlier this year and they were retailing a 2GB version for $150, now either they pushed their unsellable product off on Brando like they were the digital version of Goodwill, or Brando just stole their design and made it cheap. Regardless, Brando is offering up their 2GB credit card MP3 player for $42.

MPIon MP3 Player and deep skin ion cleanser

So you want a crappy MP3 player that can also help you with your acne? Well some weird Japanese company apparently has what you are looking for.

The worst part, your substantial $181 only gets you 128MB of storage space. I would think that you could buy a far better MP3 player and still afford a couple dermatologists appointments which would probably do you a lot more good.

All your base are belong to us! Master Chief rings NASDAQ closing bell

Master Chief is in your stock markets killing all your dudes! I really can’t believe that Halo as a force has moved to a point where they let a guy dressed up as Master Chief ring the closing bell for the stock market today.

It really is amazing how far a properly laid marketing plan can go. Bungie, Microsoft, and the numerous Halo fan boys, you can rest now, you have done it, you have taken over the free world.
