The Braille Book is an eBook for the blind. Using Bluetooth, the battery-operated “bBook” fetches eBook content and translates it to Braille by raising and lowering the nodules on its face.

Oregon Scientific’s MP121 MP3 player

Oregon Scientific recently released their lastest version of the world’s first standalone waterproof MP3 player. The MP121 is waterproof up to 3 feet, as well as shockproof, and comes loaded with features: plays MP3 and WMA files, FM radio with 30 preset channels, equalizer graphics display, ID3 tag support, and USB 2.0 support for fast file transers. The MP121 also has a built in pedometer that features target setting (step, calories, distance), a distance calculator, calorie counter, BMI calculator, and stop watch. Great MP3 player for working out though.

Genibo : The new robotic pet dog.

Since Sony has discontinued recently, South Korean company DasaTech is filling the missing robot dog market with it’s Genibo. Not as smooth as an Aibo, but it’s satisfying for some already. No price yet.

Kai Kai sandals

Kai Kai, a name that resembles the Cantonese (yet another Chinese dialect) slang of “walking” have been made into a pair of sandals. Whats good about them are that they have all rubber soles that will eventually mold to the foot and won’t flatten out like other flip flops. Looks nice, but no price yet.

Nokia and Visa Team on Mobile Credit Card System

Visa and Nokia are joining forces on the world’s first mobile credit card pilot system, which lets consumers shop and pay using their mobile phones. The project will be given a four-month trial in Malaysia, where a 200-user group will be given Nokia’s 3230 prototype to shop 2,500 stores nationwide that have compatible readers. According to Visa, if the trial is successful, the technology could be commercially available by early 2007.

Cute! It’s the USB MyPet WebCam

This is not something new. There was a Snoopy stuffed webcam a while ago, but you may have gotten bored with Peanuts. Choose from MyMonkey or MyPuppy models – both of them come with a 1.2m retractable cable and supports resolutions of up to 640 x 480 @ 15fps. It’s a great spy cam for those who would never have noticed it. It costs $25 per set.

The Acer d150 is a GPS navigator from Acer. Relatively a new player to such market, the d150 has great directional information, with the comprehensive POI database are good enough for daily usage. When it comes to reliability software-wise, the d150 performs admirably.

FrogPad has announced a Limited Edition of 500 USB Black on black FrogPads – 250 left handed, 250 right handed models. This is a test program for colour acceptance.

They would be sold on the web site in 30-45 days for $129.99.The company is accepting pre-orders now. Each of these 500 units will be personally autographed on the back by their CEO.

Honda’s Natural Gas-Powered Civic Solutions for New York

American Honda Motor Co., Inc., has announced that it will begin retailing its all-new compressed natural gas (CNG) powered 2006 Civic GX to New York state customers in the northern hemisphere autumn.

Scheduled to go on sale at select Honda dealers throughout the state, the ultra-clean Civic GX produces near zero emissions, makes owners eligible for significant tax credits, and can be refueled with a convenient home refueling appliance. The Civic GX is the only dedicated natural gas-powered passenger vehicle available to retail customers in the United States.
