Seattle based Dashwire, is looking to change the way you use your Windows Mobile based cell phone. Ford Davidson, founder and CEO of Dashwire, wants you to put your cell phone on the shelf and click through its contents with this web based cellphone management tool. Dashwire will automatically pull your contact information, text messages, and media from your phone and make it available to view, edit, and download online.

Dashboard

Have you ever forgotten your phone at home? The rest of the day you worry about all the missed phone calls, distressed text messages, and frustrated voice mail. Unless you have Dashwire. You can sign in from any computer and instantly receive, and reply to your text messages before they become frantic. Missed a call? Dashwire will let you know when, and who it was from. Can’t remember your boss’s cell phone number? Dashwire stores your contacts, picture I.D. and all. It also lets you create contacts and edit existing contacts that it will automatically update to your phone.

You can also use Dashwire to pull videos and pictures that you’ve taken from your phone. Once they are on Dashwire, you can organize them in folders, rotate, zoom and then download to your computer.

Want to change your ringtone or set your speed dial? It does it all, and here’s the best part - it’s free. The only catch is that it’s still in beta, and you’ll have to jump on a list to be invited. Needless to say, my name is on that list. You can sign up here, and watch the video tour here.

The service was OK when I had my Q, but it’s limited only to windows enabled smart-phones; this will be their greatest fall.

This service will see itself become profitable and take off when it creates symbiotic efforts with major wireless carriers and broader functionality with other phones. Many customers crave this effortless and detailed level of computer/phone functionality and interaction, but the MAJORITY of users are not on smart-phone enabled devices - this product aims at the consumer end, but requires business level devices.

The online experience is very 2.0 and fluid but there are a couple hiccups here and there that make it still seem like it’s in the beta period.

    we use OnlineBackupVault.com
words can not describe how much i love their product as well as their support team. they are a constant life saver
at 50 bux a yr for residential service - that is cheaper than mozy and same as carbonite (25 gig is 50 bux) which is more than ample for 99%of users. another interesting thing - if you google http://www.onlinebackupvault.com you will only see positive feedback - try the same with other companies - and i doubt you will see the same

This IS a beta product. If anything, you can see the potential that a platform like this has. I dont think Dashwire is in a position where you can conretely scrutinize the functionality of it considering that is cleary breaking ground in its own way.

I agree that there are other backup systems that are amazing, some would argue that they couldnt live without theirs. But I also think it is dangerous to simply tag this product as only a backup. If you are a user, which I am, the backup piece of the site is amazing…but what makes this site stand out is the forward thinking functionality. The usability is ingenius in that they were able to build on current internet communication platforms, and effectively grow from a Facebook/MySpace like atmosphere. To me this means that user will actually be able to use and understand Dashwire based on their past experiences.

I have made this product a staple in my daily routine. So much so that it has become a neccessity. I only wish I had some stock options!
