You're kidding, right? There is an entire spectrum of augmented reality applications just waiting to be developed. Maps that literally show you the way you're supposed to go right in front of your face, museum tours that give you instant information on the object you're looking at, pop-up restaurant menus, video phone calls, games, redecorating a room however you personally want it to be, and those ideas just barely scratch the surface!

Or an overlaid map? People's names? And think of the advertising opportunities! Reading email? A book? Transit schedules?

That's hardly even scratching the surface.

Not exactly new. Microvision has been given a contract on this same thing years ago and now has a product of this as do a few other companies. and jmlx, you are just plain wrong. Sorry. You could do interactive mixed reality 3d games. Running up and down your block shooting monsters and each other, or you could access all of your computer information not even having to pull out your phone, just have it right in front of you. Watch the Nokia Future Vision video here http://thefeuchts.com/Stocks.aspx it is about half way down. This type of interface IS a very big part of the future.
