Dark Souls 3 pre-orders come with original game, or soundtrack

The Xbox store has been a wealth of information lately. For some reason, the Australian version of the store has been providing a little too much info. First, we saw the Dark Souls pre-order information last week, then just yesterday, they spilled the beans on the Doom pre-order bonuses. Both pages were pulled shortly after they went up, making us wait for an official announcement.

After a little over a week, Bandai Namco has decided that it's time to give us the real scoop on what's going on with Dark Souls 3. As it turns out, the information on the Australian page was mostly right. When you pre-order the game on Xbox One, you will be getting a copy of the original game for free. However, for the time being, it will only by playable on the Xbox 360. You'll be getting that code right away, and you'll only be able to use it on the Xbox One whenever the title gains backwards compatibility, sometime in the future.

PS4 owners won't be treated to a free copy of the original game. Instead, they'll be getting a free digital soundtrack, as well as an exclusive theme for their console. The theme is available as soon as you pre-order, while the soundtrack won't be released until April 12.

PC gamers will also be getting the free digital soundtrack, as well. And if you happen to already own the first two games on Steam, they'll go ahead and knock $5 off of your pre-order price. That's a nice little "thank you" for loyal customers.

They also announced a Deluxe Edition, which will get you the game and the season pass. It's $85, and available on all three platforms.
