Cyclops Gear CGX2 action cam records Ultra HD video

Cyclops Gear has introduced its new CGX2 action camera. The company, which specializes in camera-equipped glasses and goggles, is offering the action camera now; it resembles the better-known GoPro alternatives, and boasts 4k Ultra HD video recording, among other things. This is the company's follow up to the CGX camera, bringing some feature improvements and undercutting the Hero 4 with its $299 USD price tag.

The CGX2 features a dark body with a simplistic layout; the back of the camera consists of a 2-inch LCD, while the top has the shutter button. Content is stored on a micro SD card, of which capacities up to 32GB are supported. There's also a waterproof case included that allows users to take the camera underwater.

The camera features a 12MP sensor and a 160 degree lens, integrated WiFi with a supported range up to 30 meters, and a waterproof depth maximum of 50 meters. Still images can be taken at 12MP, 8MP, 5MP, and 3MP resolutions, and video can be recorded at 4k/10fps, 1440p/30fps, 1080p/60fps, 720p/120fps, and 480p/240fps.

The camera supports various recording modes, such as a snapshot mode, time lapse, high speed recording, photo burst, slow motion, motion detection, and seamless looping. There's a free related iOS and Android app for remote control from a tablet or smartphone, as well.
