Steve Kondik… main developer and “cyanogen” himself is currently working for Samsung if I’m not mistaken due to his success as a developer for the Android community.

Symantec is possibly the WORST antivirus software you can find….and you have to pay for it. Antivir Free works much better and is much lighter on your system.

CyanogenMod is legit. they are a group of hardworking developers working for the greater good of android users, and they are completely volunteer based and extremely knowledgeable.

Installed alpha 2 of the touchpad release. Very very very pleased. Even though it’s not final, very stable so far. Hats off to the minds and hard work that made this possible. Quite remarkable work really…

Not sure why the trust of Symantec. Cyanogen is open sorce, is Symantec ? Cyanogen mods added life to my original droid. They turned my nook color into a tablet. You don’t need to trust them immediately just check it out.

just updated I was running nightlies for a bit then went back to the RC1 release.
So far like butter, only wiped cache not data and had to unmount/remount sd card to get some apps back other then that very smooth so far (HTC Evo 4G).

If you don’t trust them then don’t use CyanogenMod. Same as when you try and load any custom ROM on your Android device.

How do you know Symantec isn’t installing backdoors? Cyanogen mod is held to a much higher standard because the people that use their mods tend to have more knowledge about their devices than their end users. I won’t say that they never will do intentional harm, but I’m pretty sure that they never have.

Can CyanogenMod be trusted? I went to their web site and Symantec blocked with Event Type “Intrusion Prevention” and Severity “Critical”. Is CyanogenMod source code open for review and who is reviewing it. How do we know CyanogenMod is not installing back doors?
