All it says is it brings it down to the same level as the ISS, not Earth. What is the ISS vs Earth cancer prognosis is the question then. I have no idea what level of shielding they have on the ISS – All I’ve heard is that there was enough rads sleeting through the Mercury and Apollo astronauts that, lids closed, they’d see flashes inside their eyeballs.
Visitable is different than habitable.

Their chart indicates lowest radiation, at ground level, where the atmosphere pressure hits maximum density. Does a Van-Allan belt encircle the planet? Have scientists measured the planet’s core density level?

Thanks, that’s what I though they meant. Wonder how

Cosmic radiation; earth has a strong magnetic field from its dense core, mars is a “lighter” planet and thus the field doesn’t deflect as much.
