My iPad version 1 did! There is a lot to be said about both Apple & Android, and they both pretty much counters the other. Some have things it will do and Others have things it won't do. Too bad both sides are so willing to rain on each others parade. It is simply a mater of choice. Corporations are more comfortable with Apple in their environment. If you have the knowledge and desire then go with an Android Tablet.

Not enough pixels? Yes, that is exactly what I wa talking about. Something as absolutely meaningless and trivial as that.

And my point is there are much better ways of showing you care than crappy budget eletronics. It's not a good use of money. It's not a good present to give. Is there a rule you have to buy electronics as gifts? That's now the only way of showing you care?

One year I sat for a couple hours and wrote the most heartfelt letter that I could possibly write to each member of my immediate family to make sure they knew how much they meant to me and why they meant so much to me. My step-dad said he cried he was so touched by what I wrote. I think that's better than a crappy tablet that barely works.

I would rather people donate money to The Human Fund in my name then get me something that just going to cause me headaches and disappointment.

The point is it's not the best gift but a shitty tablet is infinitely better than nothing.. The main point of a gift is showing you care, not making sure someones multimedia needs are satisfied..

Obviously he doesnt want the newest OS.. The main features of iOS 5 are Notifications, Siri, and iCloud. The main features of ICS are hardware accel, new multitasking, new theme, and new settings menu... If you go thru the litany of features on Android Froyo those are a small for anyone but a power user.. If he's not a power user he will hardly use any of those features anyway.. He sold HIS iPad2 not YOURS.. If he sold your iPad2 and you're a power user he messed up, but selling a casual user's iPad2 was the right call..

Love my HP Touchpad running CM7. Utterly brilliant. Runs pretty much everything on the market, gorgeous screen, excellent sound - just a fantastic tablet. Really happy with it. Turned off logging and overclocked it - runs like a Ferrari! $149!! Bought 2 others for the wife and son. 3 Tablets for the price of an iPad2. How can anyone not like that math????

It said this:

"Chris, why would anyone follow advice when you dis their gift? Obviously you grew up in the dinosaur age and are not antiquated with Android, or your a preppy stuck up snob that prefers to look like an elite class and only prefer Apple products. I have beta tested android devices since the start. As far as a tablet, I am currently testing the Acer a500 which was only $250 on sale for the holidays, (a $350-$399 tablet) saves you $500 over Apple inflated corporate greed and out performs even the upcoming iPad 3, and once Android 4.0 is updated (in the next couple of weeks), it will seriously outperform any current tablets out there. With an eye on the Future Google is developing their own, and some others like the Novo with Mips chips will not only out perform the rotten Apple's out there, it will be priced below $200 even some models starting at $99. So quit your job at slashgear and go back to school. "

Maybe it's a difference in what someone was already using prior Currents, but as a hard core Feedly user (hosts my Google Reader feeds, about 80 of them) on mobile & desktop (feeds viewed are actually synced and marked read), I actually don't see much or even ANY benefits from it.

I like that it emphasizes that a tablet is really what you make of it. The important thing is size and connectivity. The rest is a matter of preference and can be changed.

So you sold your iPad 2 (I would of bought it off you) which is running the latest iOS for a tablet that wont be receiving the ICS update because your already shackled to Google's ecosystem (Along w/ Sammy). Also your not tied to itunes anymore because everything is Cloud based. And as for Apple not having "open devices", I'd rather have that then to know that I'm going to be forced to root or upgrade my phone/tablet to have the latest software.

When I give tech for Christmas, I don't give junk. I want to give somebody a present. Not a headache.

If they want to go for the cheap stuff, give me a gift card and I'll use it to subsidize what I really want. For instance, my mother-in-law bought me a $150 in Amazon gift cards and a thick magazine filled audio software reviews. She also printed out the webpages of two of the software packages she thought gave you the best bang for your buck. But she said she wanted to have me make the final decision on what I should get. Plus she knows how much I like doing research for tech stuff. So the love is there. The caring is there. The thought is there. I was actually really touched she would go through all this effort for me.

But hey I guess I should go kill myself because I don't like people wasting their hard earned money on useless presents.

Agreed. People can just surf online to this site. Now they need to do one of these for the iPad.

If have an iPad and need 499,999 apps that make fart sounds, you are good to go with either one of them.

Funny...
I've got a Galaxy SII phone, so I've had little desire for a tablet.

For Christmas, my employer bought us all new iPad2's.

I sold mine for $450, bought a 7" Galaxy Tab used for $200, and loaded all the apps I've already paid for onto it. No need to open an iTunes account, do everything through iTunes, re-buy things I already have, and use two totally discrete and opposing platforms. This way my tablet and phone work together, not on completely different islands from one another.

I'm not complaining my tablet "isn't quite as good" as the iPad. I'd gladly trade off a little performance for not being shackled to Apple's ecosystem, and having compatibility between my open devices.
