Cougar 600K mechanical keyboard targets discerning typists

This past September, Cougar announced the 700K mechanical keyboard for gamers, and now to make sure everyone else (read: non-gamers) can also enjoy the device is the similar Cougar 600K. This newest model is likewise mechanical and is suitable for both gamers and non-gamers alike, opening it up to a wider market than its fierce sibling. With the 600K comes the same Cherry MX switches and familiar design, but with less features than the 700K powerhouse.

Though there's no information on when the keyboard will be available and when it will launch, there are some details on what consumers can expect — namely LED backlighting, a gold-plated USB connector, multimedia keys, and an N-Key rollover.

As you can see in the image, it also totes wrist rests for those who spend extensive time typing, and it is plug-and-play — no drivers necessary. The maker promises it is durable, being tailored toward "people who simply weren't interested in the plethora of functions offered by high end keyboards."

To make sure gamers can use the keyboard, Cougar has also implemented some "essential functions" for gaming, though it says it has done so in a way that isn't intrusive for those who aren't interested in gaming. The key repeat rate can be adjusted, and all four Cherry MX Switch colors will be available.
