Corsair announced their Storage Solutions P256 today, a 256GB solid-state drive that’s meant to offer high performance and capacity combined in one unit, so you have other options besides a traditional hard drive for your PC.
The P256 contains a Samsung MLC flash memory, a Samsung Controller IC and 128MB of cache memory plus Native Command Queuing for top-notch performance at serious speeds. It’s capable of read/write speeds of 220MB/sec and 200MB/sec.
Opting for the P256 will supposedly improve startup, shutdown and loading speeds for games and applications. It is also able to offer 25% longer battery for most notebooks. Most importantly, the capacity is large enough to accommodate those that want ample storage space, not just speed.
