Microsoft needs to turn this around... asap. They've really only got two chances left. The newly launched Nokia 900 needs to be a hit. Meaning, it needs to increase WP7's market share by a few points. And then Windows Phone 8 (Apollo) needs to build on that later in the year and into next year. If Windows Phone isn't approaching 10% market share by the end of 2013, then I'll have serious doubts if it will ever catch on (even though I own a Windows Phone & love it).

Microsoft is running out of time & excuses. They don't just need "more apps"--they need the RIGHT apps... the primary apps that people & businesses want & need on their phones. They're still missing a lot of banking apps, and things like Pandora & Instagram. And why don't they have better games for Xbox on Windows Phone? It's ridiculous & inexcusable.

The clock is ticking, Microsoft. It's time to get on the ball... or go home.

The Comscore figures have always been biased but they can't deny the obvious facts if they want to remain credible. So now "Microsoft" is included as a whole unit, with Windows Mobile and WP7 combined - and pundits will seize on this to say that these figures say Windows Phone has a whole 3.9% share when in fact it's nowhere close to that figure. Windows phone over the quarter was less than one percent of sales and far less of installed base. All the rest was Windows Mobile, which every commenter in this thread will tell you IS NOT WINDOWS PHONE.

Nokia's Lumia doubled the unit sales of Windows Phone, and if they keep it up Windows Phone might enter single whole digits of market share, with Nokia half of that. Or not. That's not where I'd put my money though.

"This month has shown both RIM with BlackBerry and Microsoft with Windows Phone to be taking tiny dives with 3.2 and 1.3% losses in the market since February,"

Your interpretation of the stats does not make sense. Clearly these figures represent loss of total market share since Nov. 2011, unless you have other statistics you haven't shown that just by chance coincide with what is displayed. And they are not "tiny" losses! RIM has lost 20% of the market share they had in Nov/11, and Microsoft has lost 25% of the market share they had at that time. This is especially dramatic, since it covers the period in which they launched their new hope, the Win7 Phone, and their collaboration with Nokia. Time to dump your shares in these companies.
