I think you are telling us lie. Apple renew their smart phone once a year but Android smart phones renew even 2 months. Android also has a lot more models than Apple such as Galaxy series about 10, LG Optimus series such as black, big, LTE, 2X, EX, 3D, one, and more. I can even make songs with names of the Android smart phones. This fact is undoubtedly obvious. And the most important fact that we have to think about is Apple grab 10% of market with only 3 smart phones and the newest version was at least 1 year old.

You are right on the OS, but I was referring to the device manufacturers.
When analyzing the OS Apple is #2, which is very impressive, considering the restrictions they have (one manufacturer, limited carriers, high price point, etc.).
Lots of Android users don’t have an iPhone because of the expensive data plans. Here in S. FL, Metro PCS sells tons of cheap/slow Android devices, with a $40 (unlimited voice, data, and messages) plan.
For many the choice is made out of necessity.

Android phones are selling 4x faster each day than iPhone.

I guess that must make you sad.

Comscore numbers are never right.

Android is better in the high-end as well as the low-end.

Every market segment prefers Android, from hackers, to high-end programmers, Phds, high-tech workers, to all parts of the mass market, they all buy more and more Android and less and less iPhone.

That’s all there is to it.

article is bias..firstly the data is flawed..it says andrioid phone makers have decreased in share yet google share of the market increased significantly..infact just over 4 times more than apple..the article should be about google. increasing its share not the secon place company gaining a few points..what’s the use of even reading slashgear

Others = a whole Armada of devices

Apple = 4 years in the business
Others = Decades

Apple = limited providers
Others = available even with Pre-Paid Walmart cards

@Charbax:disqus Considering you were bashing them for using a data collection method that they did not use for this study, I’ll reserve judgement. They have won quite a few awards for data collection and marketing achievements over the years (along with some missteps). I’m sure they’re not perfect as the different demographics that buy different types of phones will respond differently to online surveys. Not sure that these imperfections warrant throwing the data out and entirely trusting the companies themselves to provide it.

The story is simple, don’t regard any comscore numbers as truthful, in the past 10 years, just about every single comscore stat has been proven wrong. I’m not saying they are maybe not somewhat pointing in the right direction sometimes, I am just saying those are not the actual numbers, so there is no need to report on them. If you want the actual numbers, wait for manufacturers to report on them in their earnings reports, ask Google and Apple to both give same comparable activations and active numbers instead of Apple cherry picking shipments from factory before earnings report as their number.

comscore doesn’t actually know those numbers, they just have some website page counters spread around and they think they know numbers based on smartphone web browser traffic to those specific sites that they monitor. Android’s market share growth is probably higher than what comscore can measure.
