From what I saw, when an app is taking up the full screen, there will be three glowing dots at the edge of the screen.. This way, but buttons are semi-hidden but are still usable.

In full screen mode, can the developer just decide to not allow you to exit? With the physical buttons, you could press home screen and the OS would exit the app. In ICS, can the app “decide” to not show the exit buttons when you tap the screen? Then you would have to restart, which would be annoying. Also, Gingerbread is notorious for force closing. Has ICS fixed this, and if so, how?

if you didn’t get an update its because the internal hardware isn’t playing nice with the new os iteration. sometimes the gpu or wifi or radio or other internal components need specific drivers to work with the new upgrade. sometimes its impossible like sony with 2.2, they couldnt make it work so the went straight to 2.3 as soon as they had all the kinks worked out. it was a decision to keep a good user experience over having the most current version. i agree with this approach.
personally if the phone doesnt use the omap5 with the power vr-sgx544-mpx or better then its just going to become outdated verry quickly. did any one knotice that the galaxy nexus is using the same gpu as the galaxy 1? sad sad sad…. i love the phone but graphically its horrible compared to the iphone 4s with the power vr sgx543-mp2 essentially the iphone 4s can provide 3x the graphics performance of the moto droid razr and galaxy nexus

the carrier has specific needs for a handset to be allowed to use there nexwork. no tether no abuse of service, inceased security, radio frequency drivers, but the upgrade is not the carriers duty its the oem like samsung moto and htc

That’s an interesting concept. I just assumed that they would fade to 3 small dots for movies. I know that’s how it works for tablets right now, but they have all the extra space. I guess we’ll find out

I know that if a game is optimized for the OS, then it disappears. For example, the game Robotek on tablets causes the virtual buttons to disappear in honeycomb. It all depends on the particular app. The OS will assume that it should show the buttons, and the app should tell it otherwise.

When you open up the camera app the nav buttons fade out to 3 small dots correct? Does the same happen when you watch a movie or do they go away completely(so we can watch in 1280×720)? If they go away completely then how do you exit the movie?

(although I have heard conflicting reports) I believe the entire outer shell of the phone is plastic and samsung has added additional structural support via an internal aluminium frame.

Curate your own marketplace Google. Let the customer have confidence in your product. That and allowing all those skins from every company (though you did put in a way to remove carrier bloatware, not sure if it also does skins) is a step in the right direction. Now just take it to the logical conclusion. Eliminate them.

Lastly, if you could just smooth out the UI just a wee bit more. It is pretty smooth, but just a little more.

Does playing games, the buttons still there in nexus galaxy? or will it visible when pause game?

the answer is it’s not up to Google, it’s up to the phone/tablet manufacturer. The OEM locks the bootloader of the device so you can’t do anything without their permission. Google needs to pressure OEMs to unlock bootloaders so customers can choose when to upgrade and what to upgrade to.

Why is it that no reporter ever presses Google for what is easily the worst thing about Android? Upgrading to the latest version? My first question would be why can’t a consumer upgrade to latest version of Android directly from Google? Why can’t manufacturers provide drivers for all their phones to work with the latest release? Why can’t all this happen on THE DAY a new version is released?

Why will no one ask the real question…. When will android have search option in exchange email and why is the non Gmail client so bad… This is a work device for a lot of people and haveing to download 20$ touch down to make it work corectly is a joke…. Secondly all the OEM’s build search in the email client why O becouse its a requrement stock android is missing to many things for my or any others who use exchange to like it…. I have already payed my 20$ for touchdown on my G II but still a fing joke……

Next time ask them when they will have full exchange support not this junky half support crap… Also why cant i edit my calender invites on the phone… HTC lets me do this
