Now that I have tried to use this service for 2 days, I can say that
not only does it seem wrong from a net-neutrality point of view, they
created all of this fuss over a truly lousy application. The content is
extremely limited. When they say "watch whole seasons" they mean only
the most recent season. Not all of them. And beyond that, the quality is
so poor it is virtually unwatchable. Colors are washed out, and the
sound seems like blankets are covering my speakers. Good job
Comast...one more way to mess something up.

The FCC should really be all over this, and your tethering example. In Norway Forbrukerombundet would be all over something like this. The politicians in USA are bought and paid for. I hope this changes one day.

I've seen backlash all over the internet about this. Will the FCC take notice? This definitely seems shady.

What this all boils down to is "who's in bed with who" as far as backroom deals and payola. It's same crap as cellphone carriers charging you additional fees for "tethering". The subscriber is already paying for the bandwidth. Why is it the provider's business as to the method that you use the product (lawfully) that you have already paid for? Comcast is spinning this as if they are doing a favor to their subscribers. What it does in fact is passively encourage the sale of XBox over alternatives. The FCC is not going to interfere in this until someone in Washington gets enough money thrown at them by a lobbyist going in the opposite direction.

Just a thought, if ISP's didn't sell what they didn't have. Selling 200mbps out of a 50mbps line, why would they need to throttle anything? If I pay for 35mbps, I don't want to be throttle down just because I'm using it all.

"committed to an open internet" - then why can't I access HBOgo on my Xbox Comcast? I pay for the service but yet you block my access to it. Net Neutrality doesn't mean a thing anymore.

The digital data going to Xboxes on the Xfinity network comes from Microsoft servers -- which are on the public Internet. So data going to Xfinity IS on the public Internet. NET NEUTRALITY DOES APPLY TO CIMCAST, but they're trying to cheat some customers.

Since their network (and bandwidth) is limited (finite), and at any time a percentage of their network is used by Xbox gamers (let's say 30% of their Xfinity network's capacity is used by 10% who have an Xbox). This means, for the rest of their customers (90% of customers) only get 70% of the network speed. So comcast IS slowing-down those users discriminately.

Glad I got rid of Comcast and went to satellite.
NO MORE THROTTLING HEADACHES FROM COMCAST!!!
