The cable giant, Comcast Corp has formally admitted to FCC with the uses of Managed Internet Traffic to slow down customers’ file-sharing application, intentionally. They blamed peer-to-peer services like BitTorrent as the main culprit of network congestion and said a managed network is a necessity to prevent heavy users with similar application for media sharing like video, movie and music, etc.

The consumer groups responded and argued that the network has breached the principle of Net Neutrality, in which all Internet traffic should treat equally. The Network uses of managing traffic aimed to protect its TV business and the competitive VOD services. BitTorrent, the guilty party according to Comcast, told the Washintonpost that the practice is not an ideal fix, Comcast should be upgrading and improving the network and bandwidth instead. The company defended and compared the traffic management to traffic control light uses to regulate vehicles, they aren’t blocking the content, just relaying one, briefly.

Comcast is urging your neighborhood network traffic could be affecting you because of files sharing service and it should be managed. But doing so would open the Pandora’s Box to allow reasonable management from similar services providers in the future.

Comcast sucks!!! On occasion I download a Linux distro to try out. I was using Embarq’s dsl until I moved. I discovered that bit torrent is pretty useless when you subscribe with comcast. So, not only do they lie about their product offerings, i.e. I will need a comcast box to watch tv soon, they block any traffic that interferes with their product offerings and charge a premium on top of that.

Let me add that these creeps are trying to get taxpayers to foot the bill for a new facility in Pennsylvania.

Comcast does suck! They don’t own the internet. If I’m paying for MONTHLY ACCESS TO THE INTERNET and all that it offers… then Comcast doesn’t have the right to determine what I can or can’t receive and they should not purposely slow or block traffic of anything that I’m paying a monthly fee to access.

Happy I don’t have them as a service provider, and after reading this I never will.

I think you already know what most of us think about this. I myself am thinking how happy I am I don’t have comcast.

comcast throttles more than bittorrent. i’ve never used bittorrent and all my downloads, even checking email, had jitter - long pauses of no activity. comcast support basically admitted it and said there was nothing they could do. couldn’t even watch streaming netflix movies or listen to music until i went back to at&t. at&t’s service sucks but at least you can check email, watch a movie, listen to a song.

I pay Comcast 60.95 a month for their service. It seems to slow down even when I try to download from legitimate sites such as Itunes. I suggest Comcast just
STFU and provide their service. I had them as the cable provider but got tired of their once a month visit to fix service. YEAH IT’S COMCRAPSTIC.

Simply kill the Comcast!! This is much more effective than any obvous argument directewd to the Comcast like morons. Adminisrtrative or govermental like. Freedoms of internet users ar untachable. Second only to personal freedoms.

Comcast is horrible. Don’t get Comcast if you have Netflix!! They filter that too. And if you want to download something over a share it is sooo sloooow… if it even works.
I used to love to have Time Warner and it worked great and now it is almost useless.
Don’t get Comcast. Use DSL or something else. No, I dont work for any Internet provider…

Comcast has the right to provide the services they offer in a way they want; users have the right to go along with that or to contract with a different ISP. So, you don’t like Comcast? Then get a different internet provider. And quit your bellyaching! You sound like a bunch of spoiled brats.
